  • Got Strava on phone. Seemed to work fine just tucked into a zip pocket

Join the LFGSS strava running group!

  • I run hot and even when it’s freezing I’ll just wear a shirt and a windbreaker type jacket (mega thin) - an old Rapha or a Ronhill I picked up on eBay for £6.

I quite like the rain, less people and keeps me cool. You only get wet once etc

  • If it's raining and cold I've got a lightweight Adidas jacket I like to wear just to take the edge off. Not sure if they still make it, was a freebie for my London Marathon pacing job. :)

Very happy to get a tough marathon-pace tempo run done in a windy Battersea Park this evening. 13.5 miles total, incl. 11.6M @ 5:41/m, which is pleasingly scraping inside target MP, even though the session was a variable-pace one, 4 reps of (3.8k@MP/1k@95%MP). Average "MP" section pace was 5:36/m, so I've got a bit of pace to play with when it progresses to an extra rep. (Ugh!)

  • I am really looking forwards to watching the National this Saturday. Who is racing?

  • Running, it gets harder when you are a fatty.

  • Watching?! Bah! Not sure if racing is the word but I suppose I should put some effort into it. Had a pretty solid training week, and I'm just happy to get through the XC season unscathed. Parly Hill mud isn't my forte but it is definitely a classic day out.

  • I'm running but it's not going to be my best race I don't think, coming in on very heavy legs. Last XC of the season, can't believe it.

  • @PhilPub & @5awyr enjoy!

How come you're not running it @juanito?

  • I'm not fit enough. life has interrupted training and Parliament Hill is unforgiving when fit. my x country season has been a bit of a non-starter this year. something to improve on next winter.

Did a session today that suggests there is still something there although my quads started to feel like someone had attacked them with an iron bar by the end.

@5awyr what vest will you be in? I'll try and give you a shout.

  • Fair call, glad to hear it's not an injury keeping you out. Ditto hoping for a better xc season next time around.

  • Anyone watched PersonalBest? Interesting doco on British sprinters by Sam Blair filmed over the four years leading up to London.

  • Blue, with a white zebra pattern. I'll be the one with beard and longish hair.

  • I've had a change of heart. The weather is too nice not to run. I might see you on the course @5awyr!

  • Was up on HH last night, course already set up and marked. Conditions are very disappointing - should be pretty firm, not the Passchendaele mudbath you pay your money for. Felt very left out seeing the course - may have to join a club next year so I can join in.

  • Yay! See you there.

  • There's only a wee bit like that near the ponds. It's nothing on old times.

  • The wall of mud is a personal favourite

I take it that bit isn't too bad?

  • Just seen some fresh footage of the U17 race. Looks pretty firm going.

  • Ilkley Moor Fell Race last week. Had an ok run but need to get back into racing. The first one of the season always sucks anyway.
Pb’d all the descents at least.

  • You were well ahead of me it seems! (no change there)

  • If you were 558th I really wasn't that far ahead. It was a pretty classic day out on Parli Hill, nearly lost my shoe in the mud twice. Highlight of the day was our clubmate and all round good guy John Gilbert coming third overall.

My legs are now absolutely battered.

  • Good work, considering you weren't going to bother. Hats off to John, brilliant stuff!

@5awyr - Great effort, tough day out.

357th overall for me, rubbish start, massive bottleneck at the top of the first hill, but felt good overtaking people for most of the race. 7th V45 which I was pretty pleased with, but mainly happy to get through the XC season and looking forward to some tarmac under the race shoes. Managed a relatively un-creaky 20 miles today (79.5 for the week; no OCD here!), and will have a light week mini-taper for Bath HM next Sunday.

  • it seems like quite a big jump to me, and while its not impossible, I guess id ask what's driving this aim for you before offering any advice?
