I was a student in Glasgow at that time. A few of my pals went along to witness the event (it was big news at the time). After he'd given the spiel he called the faithful down for a laying on of hands or whatever it's called. One of my buddies jumps up trundles off with the chosen ones. "Hello," the others think, "he must have found the sermon more persuasive than we did", or they did until he reached the pitch, where he made a break for the home end to do pretend celebrations in front of the goal.

I went to see Big Bill at Celtic park back in the 90's I was just a kid, nice juxtaposition banging the evangelist drum in such a Catholic setting.
One of the few evangelicals not to have been caught up in financial skullduggery or bumming cats or the like.
I'm no god squad btw just went to see what it was all about.
He had a good innings.
