• @hippy I serviced a new Aeroad recently for a customer with squeaky discs. Changed everything and the bike was good until one wet ride and the noise returned. I found it very difficult to get the caliper set straight as everytime I tightened up it pulled to one sdie.

I can't understand why they have not mastered road disc brakes yet. My MTB is probably 8 years old, never had any brake service apart from pad change and stops better than anything I've ever ridden.

  • Hyrdaulic MTB brakes have the same problems we just forgive them because MTB

  • I found it very difficult to get the caliper set straight as everytime I tightened up it pulled to one side.

Tiny dabs of copper slip on the bolt that prevent it from moving the calipers when torquing it up would help, best solution I can find.

  • I know how to adjust mine so I get rid of most noise these days. Metal pads will still squeal when they get wet. Hybrid pads are much quieter generally (I'm running them on the front now).
The rear squeal on my is because the caliper died and leaked oil everywhere. I'm running the pads into the ground before maybe burning off the rotor and installing new pads.
