  • I'm quite comfortable with it being Radio 1 for grown ups. Alternatives are the likes of Heart, Magic and Absolute and their utterly soul-destroying ad campaigns.

  • Wu tang was pretty good as is huey on a saturday morning but the new prodigy gemme is just shite . You can't criticise the new batch of bbc female presenters as you come across as being sexist but they are crap at the job !

  • If anyone wants to hear the Wu Tang show:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09qv941

  • That Wu Tang show was immense...

Giles Peterson and Mary Anne Hobbs midnight 'recommends' show are the only programmes I go in for with purpose.
The rest of the time it's just on in the corner.

Apart from Radcliffe & Maconie, they can both fuck off.

  • Missed this ta.

  • Steve Lemacqs format and delivery are desperate. Time for Radio 2 for him.
I'd really like Tom Ravenscroft in his place.

Mark Radcliffe can shuffle onto Radio 2 as well I find it hard to understand what he's actually saying with all the eh's. He can take Mary Ann Hobbs and Cerys with him too.

The chap from the Fun Lovin Criminals can also fuck right off.

Mark Riley can also collect his stuff, absolute gobshite.

Giles Peterson, Gideon Coe, Lauren Laverne and latterly Shaun Keavney can all stay but a refresh is long overdue on the rest of those above.

  • Tom Ravenscroft and Gideon plus a bit of Mark Riley are great.

Hope Iggy is not away long. His show was a bit hit and miss but when it hits..

I like all the music Mary Anne Hobbs recommends and Cerys has good taste - just they can be a bit grating. Amy Lame who has taken over from Jarvis on Sunday is fuck awful and should get in the sea.

Wish Wu Tang could do a show every week.

  • Cheers.

@Merak - I know a few people who say that. It baffles me. What is it about Huey's set you don't like? Tbh I've always idolised him and have almost identical music tastes to his.

  • Love the tunes he plays, I can't think of many who'd drop DAS-EFX on Saturday morning radio. It's his style I can't get into, that Nuu Yoick thing. T Bone Trifector, where's my beat, all that.

    Tunes are beyond reproach though.

  • Sad as it maybe, I actually experience a palpable sense of loss when Keaveny announces his holidays. Unless, of course, Craig Charles is standing in.

I like Huey's show too, he's pretty much the only presenter that is genuinely acerbic about stuff on the playlist he doesn't like.

Ravenscroft and MA Hobbs drive me nuts.

  • I can understand why Huey himself might grate a little in people, but he’s got good taste in music and plays pretty diverse stuff

  • I do like his militant style. Whilst standing in for Lebore recently he basically called the whole setup out as fake the phone ins etc, that pleased me.

  • I think I just developed a man-crush when he was first interviewed on TFI Friday. I was so glad when he took Chris Evans' place (who I never really liked).

  • Have much respect for Huey, after seeing FLCs at Manchester Apollo years ago, and him stopping midtune to tell a couple having an argument to either kiss n make up, or fuck off out onto the street. He plays some good tunes on Saturday morning. Son of Peel is excellent listening, like his dad, you go from searing techno to summat downbeat and strummy and all points inbetween. Don't care for Keavney, bit like Evans but cooler. Lala, meh. Hobgoblin, grates. R&M, lads radio. Coe, essential listening at bedtime.

  • Nemone, Mary Anne Hobbs, Huey, I like the music they play, I'd just rather they didn't talk. At all.

  • I have 6 Music on at work during the week , still pretty good ,and really good compared to the utter shite that used to be on the airways pre 6 Music. Mind you Saturday's need sorting out , 10 mins of fucking Huey and I'm on the Iplayer and it's reruns of Gid Coe for the rest of the day.

  • Huey's my man. We have him on at Brixton Foodbank on Saturday mornings and he always gives us a shoutout if we ask.

  • ^^this. Lots of moaning about I don’t like him, don’t like her. Even so, there is nothing at all on mainstream radio that comes within a country mile. Music radio is fucking dreadful, at least 6 music don’t have to play whatever music sells the most advertising.

  • 10 mins of fucking Huey and I'm on the Iplayer

    did lol

  • Whoever's on now is currently playing Mclusky. So that's good.

  • I noticed that raucous track was inexplicably attributed to (OMD's) Andy McCluskey.

  • Daytime 6 is fine for what it is, lightweight and unobtrusive with generally listenable music. Over-reliant on the playlist though, some songs seem to get played 5-6 times a day. And Steve Lamacq has been phoning it in for years now, I have good memories of his evening session back on Radio 1 but holy shit is his show dull now.

Giles Peterson's show is the best weekend one, I'll always iPlayer it if I miss it live. I could never decide if I actually liked Jarvis Cocker's show but I definitely preferred him to Amy Lamé.

  • Lots of slagging off, but no suggestions of anything better. When I have had enough of Giles Peterson, i am FORCED to get of my fat arse and put on a cd. How am I supposed to deal with this, please help.

  • Lots of slagging off, but no suggestions of anything better.

    Employ some less shit DJs.

    Happy?
