  • Well in the end it is already dispatched, so will probably wait and return it.

I like the lights a lot, but given I want to mount it to the front fender on my ISEN using @coldharbour's adaptor, I think it will be too heavy. Think I'll end up getting Edelux lights instead.

  • Edelux lights

They're very very good. I've got the Edelux II on my Tandem and it provides more light than I can ever imagine needing. Pro 2 is only 25g heavier.

  • Was advised not to. But agree 25g is pretty low. Might see if they can do me a deal on taillight and have for my gravel bike and mount under wahoo

  • Messaged Coldharbour in the ISEN thread. He explained it is that the weight of the supernova being a lot further forward, leading to more leverage) which makes them precarious for mudguard mounting. Unfortunately the carbon fork on my bike doesn't have front drilling, which would make things a lot simpler.

On that note, does anyone know anywhere behond SJS spa cycles where I can get a good deal on an Edelux II and one of the mudguard mounted rear lights.

  • Unfortunately the carbon fork on my bike doesn't have front drilling, which would make things a lot simpler.

Do you have a rear drilling? I've contacted this fella (as mentioned a few pages back) to see if he'll make me one of these..

  • Yep. Rear drilling.
Sadly not sure these would be good with mudguards...

  • Have you looked at Spa Cycles? I've seen them do dynamo light bundles before.

  • Ordered Edelux and the Son mudguard light a few weeks ago. SJS was the cheapest I could find.

  • Installed my B&M topline back on to the road bike using coaxial cable from a Luxos. Front light works fine on its own, but not with the back attached.

Any ideas wtf is going on there dyno-nerdz? I tried switching polarity with the cable. Broken rear light breaking the circuit maybe?

  • My solution was to drill the custom mount and screw the The guard into it. Barring just getting a new fork with the right hole on the front, this is the best solution for me

  • Cool. Good to know this worked.

I was worried that they bracket would lower the mudguard too much and interfere with the tyre.

  • Well my E3 Pro 2 arrived today. Ordered on Friday from Germany and arrived this morning. Wasn't too good to be true after all, just a great bargain and great service from Bikester too. Such a well engineered piece of kit. Can't wait to get it all up and running now. Will be a few more weeks as I need to save for the Igaro and rear light first. Looks like the Black lights are back in stock at £106.99 and you'll get a tenner off that too for new customers

  • I have a track bike with no rear brake (so no housing to piggy back on) which I want to run a seatpost mounted secula. Is there any slightly nicer looking way to run the cable across the top tube other than a ziptie? I have a frame pump under the tt so thinking winding it around is going to catch the cabling. Also, does the cable need housing and if so, any suggestions?

  • Maybe try the external routing di2 thingies that were mentioned upthread? (might be on another thread)

With co-ax cable it should give you a clean routing.

Interested to learn how you get on 😇

  • I've barber-polled my rear light wire and it doesn't foul the frame pump, can post a pic if needed. Only downside is you need a ziptie at each end to keep the tension otherwise it looks shit/will snag.
Di2 routing is probably easier, but equally might foul a frame pump under the TT.

  • Thanks @cgg and @hamrack - I think the di2 cabling option is worth a go. I'll let you know how I get on. Expect a post in about 2-3 weeks when I come back with cabling set up questions EVEN THOUGH I think my front dynamo came with a co-ax cable (whatever the hell that is) :(

  • I run a rear cabled light using di2 cable routing under a frame pump. It is fine so long as the contact points of the pump (at either end) don't mess with the cabling. Can post a picture later if you want.

  • Cheer up, for sjs has you covered, as usual. They also do the cable by the meter without the fittings at the end, for more flexibility.

  • Is there much difference between the E3 Tail Light and the E3 Tail Light 2?

  • Ooo a picture for inspiration would be very helpful, thank you!

@cgg I'll inspect the cable I have at home to see what the deal is. My life is all sjs/spa atm. I never thought I'd go 'Full Duffer'

  • I am excited to try this out

  • Spoiler: Its a great set of lights.

  • Since the Tripster doesn't have the toptube cutouts, I was thinking about this problem recently.
What about running it via downtube, up seattube and then out the seatpost somehow (either open top under saddle or with hole drilled below clamp but above frame, ie. in the frame slot?

  • This is what @coldharbour has done on some of his builds. He drills through the top clamp of the seatpost so it can run through and then attach to the back of the saddle.

  • Stealing my ideas, the bastard!

I've not done it, I was just thinking about it. Bit annoying the Tripster doesn't have those cable holes like the 4S. I thought about running a battery rear light but I love not having to think about charging batteries so I don't want to lose my rear light.

Ooh, another option would be to run it via downtube and then out the Di2 FD cable hole and up the seattube to the light. It would then be hidden by the mudguard (if I had one).
