So the postman came bearing gifts.
Putting further pressure on the wheel building.

Try to curb your excitement. But the bike is in the stand. I have two evenings to get the build going.

Productive time on a conference call.
I did have a carbon spacer but it looked rubbish and look at the size of those damn logos. Look t them. I'll be like a billboard.

Cheesy, yes. But I needed a replacement top cap and I couldn't resist.

Regarding the Deda logos, I'd be more upset about the welds in that pic than the stem.
I have a bad feeling about this one...
Needs moar pink cables.

The welds ain't pretty but I'm confident they're plenty strong enough. It's a Specialized after all.
And I wouldn't rule out interesting cables.
And chainset is on. This is a real time build.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with them welds. Saying otherwise is very uneducated imo.

I am a) uneducated in welding b) never enamoured of welds that look like that. If those are what alu welds look like, then I don't like 'em. Purely an aesthetic (pre) judgement.
Carry on.

Here's my Boardman Team 29er. Welding is gorgeous for a relatively cheap aluminium frame!

Buildus interruptus with the binlids coming home but bars were on before the need to parenting took over.

Yeah, I don't know anything about welding. But it looks nice anyway.

Brakes are on. Wheel building progressed. Tomorrow night, oh yes tomorrow night. Assuming the offspring go to bed and don't bother me.

Why Mr. Rouge you have been a busy boy. Wheels built, spacers and sprocket on. Tires and tubes in place.

I suppose I'd better do some work now.

I like this real-time building! Not tempted to pop a chain on and roll a few metres? You don't need brakes for that...

Sadly I've just discovered some play in the rear hub. Hopefully a tighten will solve it but no rolling anywhere for me until all wobbles are solved. And I've put my tools away like a good boy. But tonight I'll get on it.

I'd be interested in the forks. Why are you changing them?
-
• #48
Hey @psg1ben they're for sale simply because I want to fit mudguards and a dynamo light. And these forks don't have the dropout braze on or the central caliper hole below the crown. They're very much race forks. They look really good and are very light. I don't know how they ride but I'm sure @Hulsroy can answer that question. I'd prefer a trade but a sale works too. Let me know your thoughts.

I'd want them for my tricross, which has original forks that I think have dropout braze ons, not sure about central caliper hole though. I'll have a look tomorrow.

Ideal swap tho the og forks are fugly. These are a judder fest with cantis mounted, but I didn't mind while racing.
Nowt better than getting high whilst working on bikes, prefer a bit of squidgy black, but when acetones all you've got, roll with it.
