So, real life is never going to be like Futurama?
Bad news everybody...

We can estimate that the it'll take somewhere in the region of 12-13km/s of delta-v to get the Tesla in to orbit
Are you calling my cats’ mum fat?

Also Mick ^^ is cleverererer than me and I think probably paid more attention at uni
The truth is that Mick's only interested in space because it's cold enough for him out there.

I'm a big fans of cats that have mass.
You could say I'm a cat-a-holic.
-
• #50982
Last I heard Mick only hasn't been in space because they don't make cutoff spacesuits.
-
• #50983
The thing is, now they're sending cars into space it has definitely become more likely that he'll go regardless.

Gotta admit, that Tesla Roadster has a great sunroof.
-
• #50985
How much energy to fire a tesla into Micks orange t-shirt, it's brighter than the sun.

Does anyone else find the whole Bulger case incredibly depressing?

Everybody's still scared of Ian Bone:

100% yes, that XKCD thing is 100% accurate. Kerbal taught me 99% of what I know about orbital mechanics; my (near-complete) PhD in astrophysics only accounts for the remaining 1%.
(You can tell I'm a science guy because I used loads of percentages.) (Also I hope you don't all think I'm humble bragging (I bet you all do though))

Congrats on the PhD!

Made more so by a complete disinterest in the media of seeing beyond the "ermagherd he's a monster" angle.
-
• #50991
I hope Scott Manley is included in that 99%.
-
• #50992
Unfortunately when I say "near-complete" I mean "deadline within a few months" not "work complete"... I'm neck deep in the horrible part!

Naturally! He's on another level! Last I heard (a few years ago) he turned his KSP knowledge into a real job at NASA.
-
• #50994
I played a lot of simple rockets when that was new and I've heard it's got better and better since but I haven't been playing it regularly. I'm assuming KSP is much better due to the available processing power?
-
• #50995
There's a certain amount of "what if" questions in my mind, thats for sure.
-
• #50996
At the moment he's a software dev for a company that got bought out by Apple. But yeah, he's definitely a significant reason for KSP's success!
-
• #50997
I think you'll be waiting for a good few years before having enough spare time to get off the ground (pun intended) with KSP ;)
Hope all is going well on that front by the way!
-
• #50998
Hahaha. All is well, what about you?
-

Surprisingly smoothly! Sleeping through the night from 6 weeks! Currently on the boundary of the dreaded 4 month sleep regression so let's see how long that lasts...

Elon Musk is such a cunt
That's disappointing.
