Right, so I've just placed an order for a SP PL8X. Such an array of hubs and configurations that they offer. As it will be going onto the Footscray (centrelock 15mm bolt through) and as I'm using an existing DT Swiss R460 28H rim, I at first thought I'd have to go up to 32 or 36 hole as they only offer this on the specification sheet. I then realised that SP in their own shop offer a 28H version and managed to find one on Spa cycles for a great price. This shit is really expensive to do reliabily and properly. Luckily I'm shunning the booze ATM so that'll save me a bit but this'll provide light for many years to come right?
Next week, I'll be getting the Igaro D1 mod5 unless there's anything substantially better on the market. -

Anyone tried a Sinwave Beacon? How does it compare to son, supernova etc?
-
• #1254
So supernova good, Edelux bad?
If I ever get around to building my Isen, I will need to make this choice.

They are both very good.

So I'm going to get the Supernova E3 Pro 2 for the Bowman. Being Disc, there's no calliper mount on front fork but there's a mudguard attachment point behind the top of the fork. Don't want to attach to bars. As there's plenty of room for large tyres and I'll be running either 25/28mm tyres, is there something that can attach to the back of the fork and reach around(fnar)? You know what I mean maybe.

those pictures are extremely overexposed and give a false impression.

I've only ever used Supernova so have nothing to compare with.

You didn't read it did you? The author and photog specifically states:
"If you only look at the photos, you will come away with a false impression of the relative brightness of the headlight beams shown. You MUST read the text as well. The images don't tell the whole story."It's a means of beam comparison, not a be all and end review. The point, anyway, was to show the poster having issues with their Edelux what someone else's Edelux beam pattern looked like.

I did read it years ago but obviously didn't remember anything .
Still think the dutch guy got it right, they are all pretty dim and most of them are crap,
no progress being made for years. On a different note I recently noticed that my Shimano dynamo hub now keeps spinning
much longer with the light on than it used to.
It probably has more than 20000km on it and I didn't even have to adjust the bearings yet.
Maybe it's broken in now. -

I'm a bit wrong in the head but I love the smell of new hubs. It all starts here. Such a lovely thing.

I gather @Black_Rainbow_Project has one, perhaps he's not yet tried it out, otherwise I guess we'd have heard something here by now.

How many spokes are we talking? Mine will be 32h on Mavic A119 rims
You'll be fine. My SP9 is 24h .... facepalm.jpg ... on a crabon rim for rim brake. So enough flexing at the top of the rim to rub on pads and much-too-close-clearance mudguard.

But does it look cool?

Which rims do you use ? Do you think that it will be the same with a disc SP 8 on38mm carbon rims ?

Meh... Thanks to the hammerhead Karoo still not being here, and my new forks with the internal dynamo routing still being a few weeks away, I've still not tested it, beyond blinding the neighbours in the houses across the road. :)

I've since drilled into the underside of the bracket and have affixed my mudguard to it. Very clean. Will get a pic later.
