Found pictures of what it may have looked like originally , if the current colour is original of course.

I'm not really into cars but as an object of design....woof!

This amazing, but surely you need a biohazard suit before starting on the interior. Just the amount of rat poo, let alone human faeces...

I imagine I’m the only person here hoping you turn this into a donk. Subscribed

The interior was disgusting, but I stripped it out right away asI noticed the carpets were soaking wet (remember it was dark inside the building) thankfully the floorpan isn't too bad, needing 3 or 4 small patches.

That floor looks surprisingly good. I've seen 10 year old Mercs worse then that. And they look immaculate outside.

I was pleasantly surprised! Bear in mind that the building leaked right above the car, and the floor probably had a puddle of water in it for a good 10/15 years. Unfortunately other areas haven't fared so well, more pics up later today.

Though vast, these are a nice simple piece of engineering - separate ladder chassis, bolt-on panels, everything available from Original Parts Group. I look forward to seeing more progress on this one

So good.
Interested to know what process you have to go through to legally own and drive a car you found? Does the DVLA even know this thing exists?

Sub'd !

Yep, its registered and sorned in my name. By some miracle I found the number plates scattered around the building, first thing I did was a HPI to make sure I wasn't dealing with a stolen car. Then a v62 form to apply for a new logbook, few weeks later a v5 came through the post along with a letter saying it needs to be sorned asap. Was last taxed in 98 and imported in 92 so has been off the road much longer than it was ever used here.

I was also interested in that. I remember looking into insuring a RHD car back when I was living in France. I was planning to buy a cheap BMW and bring it back to the UK, but there was like only one specialist insurer or something?

I'm going to ask a rude question: budget?
-
• #43
Budget is as little as possible, already spent 120 on transport and 260 on parts like rear seats, hub caps ect which are coming Friday. Will be another £900 on new parts like the windscreen, new roof, engine bits and brake rebuild stuff. Welding i'm getting a friend to help and teach me how to weld as we go along. Hopefully should be driving for under 3000.

Awesome,
Well done for taking it on. American cars aren't my thing but I look forward seeing you bring it back to life!

Are you gonna keep it ratty? Looks pretty badass as it is

To an extent, graffiti is going and I'll polish the paint up as much as I can. The dents and big scratches are staying. Will defo buy the front bumper fillers and rattle can them as close as I can to the original colour. Fun willbe with the engine in the long run to get as much power out of it as is reasonably possible.new exhaust, bigger carb, maybe a super charger eventually.

Epic to the power of rad.
Can you fab up an awesome bike rack and fit about five across the trunk?
