Good series this, remember watching it a few months back and being amazed how easy and stress free he makes it all look. Also the garage is suspiciously clean, like he's a mass murderer or something.

Yes.
Altho drive home all appeared well.
Will keep my ear to the ground...

He’s great. I really like his vids.
Also Motor Trend on Demand is only $5/month and is available in the U.K. now. They’ve recently added a bunch of extra back catalogue content of Overhaulin’ and Gas Monkey Garage on top of all the Hot Rod, Roadkill, and other Motor Trend content. It’s not all amazing, and it’s very US car heavy but there’s a lot of hours that have got me through having a newborn. Recommend. Although all of the shows will make you really want a muscle car, muscle truck, muscle wagon, basically anything with a big old V8 stuffed in it.

I know.
I wrote a few classic one-liners about it being good that he had a constructive hobby and wasn't into escorts, but they never quite worked.

I'm avoiding looking at his other stuff at the moment to prevent any procrastination.
One thing I liked is that although he made it look easy, the video highlighted what a shit load of work and money goes into even a simple swap like that with tonnes of OTP conversion parts.
Listening to too many dickheads with phat exhausts up and down my street and has sort of taken the shine off a big American V8s.

One thing I’ve noticed is Americans don’t think twice about dropping 5 figures on modifying their cars. Eg this Tom chap spent about $10k on the V8 conversion kit, and from watching muscle car vids, so many people buy a crapped out car and then spend about $15k doing it up. $5k on a car, $5k on a V8 and then $5k on parts for the engine.

Obvious video post is obvious etc

This times a million. I never really wanted a muscle car until all the motor trend content (and our then new baby)
Lucky Costas chev-hell is one of the faves -

Looking up thread, 5k on a V8 seems screaming good value relative to some of our 'mods.' :)

So, engine strip down ( Suabru EJ 255, 2.5 turbo) has revealed scores on the crankshaft. Looks like I'll be adding a new crank to the build!

Sorry I haven’t been following this, what’s going on?
EJ225 is from a Forry, right?
-
• #40113
I think $15k still gets you a shitter, albeit a 600whp shitter.

Cosworth do a rather nice EJ25 2.5 litre crankshaft. Nice, but pricey.

Yeah, Fozzy has had a bad year. Head gaskets went last year and garage made an absolute mess of it. Took months to sort it and did a shoddy job.
They had it back twice to sort issues.
Less than 200 miles later it starts burning oil, this rapidly gets worse, to the point it's making clouds of blue smoke around 1000 miles after the HG work.
The engine is now with a top builder for remedial work and I hope a report that allows me to claim some money back from the first lot.
For example, they broken one of the vvt solenoids and cable tied it in place, they stripped fasteners and just glued them in place to look the part, it leaked oil and they didn't replace or supply some parts that they claimed to.
I paid the first bill on my credit card, so I'm hoping section 75 will let me reclaim some cash.

Absolute nightmare! Fucking engine builders.

Will you name and shame so everyone else can avoid?

The car made it in one piece to Ruka. Having owned ~15 cars, the Aero feels one of my better purchases, even though the gearbox is on it's last legs.

I'm going to test drive a new mustang with my old man today. Should be interesting.

• #40120
GT or not worth the bother. The one with the turbo is shite.
-
• #40121
Oh yeah. 5.0 or gtfo.
Red or blue is the only choice.
Roush exhaust too

That version of candy apple red they do is quite nice. Always wanted to drive one of the new ones... Even though I'd never buy one.
*Edit.. I said nice twice, had to delete

He’s gone for race red with a 6sp auto. Epic car.

Sweet! They are way better than I expected. The engine is a peach. Not that I have any skin in the Ford Vs Chevy game but the Camaro SS is even more of a beast. Shame it has less visibility than Stevie Wonder on a foggy night. Makes the Stang much easier to live with I imagine.
In thrilling clock/battery news. The clock and trip have not reset themselves since the swap out on Saturday. Couple of short trips Sat and Sun, nothing yesterday.
