Yeah it appears to be a fix for a slipping seat post indeed. The Alter clamp thing tightens properly although you do need to use two Allen keys simultaneously. Maybe he had a drill but no extra key...

Hah no this will get a record groupset and a set of Cinelli Ram bars in due time.

Surely just tighten each bolt a little at a time until it's tight enough not to slip, like every threadless stem ever (?)

I know. You still tighten with the same method though.

There's a bolt and a threaded bushing, with no notches to keep it from turning with the bolt. That's where you'd need two allen keys (the bushing takes an allen key too).

Apologies, makes more sense now, I didn't know there was a threaded bushing, unlike the Alter.
With the method I'd envisaged you using, and the threaded bushings in place, four allen keys would be required simultaneously, haha!

I have really bad experiences with zipp cx tape.. Rips the top layer within 500km of normal use..

Those are excellent frames, lightweight and responsive. I built up mine like this.

Am I correct in thinking that it was these frames that had such thin tubes they were sold with an expected life span?

Hm, that's a shame. All I have at the mo & are off on a ride on it tomorrow. It'll have to do for now.

As far as I know they have a 70kg riders limit and are prone to cracks.

I've got a white Ti Flite off someone on here. Was not exactly cheap.
