I can't remember what I've used in the past but I want to say 'watchtower' so see if there's something that sounds like that.

dropped my moto g in the loo. it's dead. I was happy with it, other than running out of room, and a better camera would be nice. think it was a 2014 model.
I can get an upgrade to Huawei P8 Lite and a slightly cheaper plan - anyone got it / recommend it?
And if so, also recommend a case? Glass on front and back seems unlikely to survive my ownership... (the moto g survived being drowned once and dropped numerous times). Or, come to think of it - anyone got a durable smartphone they recommend? I prefer pocket-sized. -

Have you looked at the g5 or g5s?

The Moto G 5 is not waterproof which is the main reason I'm not considering it as a replacement for my 2015 Moto G (3?).
I've had mine thoroughly soaked when out riding (I mean really thoroughly, one time it was raining so hard that the road turned into a river and some twat drove past at full beans, causing mini tidal wave to wash over my head).
It survived that fine and after that I decided that waterproof phones are a good idea.
Current favourite for next handset is Sony Experia compact.

My Xiaomi Mi 6 arrived from China yesterday. First impressions are positive, lightening fast, premium feel and a very impressive camera. No customs fees either which was nice

Recently I finally replaced my Moto G3 with Moto G5S Plus. Bought it on eBay after they gave me £20 off anything, so I got it for £160. Pretty happy with it. Camera and screen is a lot better, so pretty much everything else. I think it's only splashproof.

Is it the put it in a freezer thing? I've done this with my old old old HTC thingie. It works... for about 10mins. So it might be enough if you're trying to recover data but as for a long-term fix nope.

Yeah but they’re saying freezer didn’t work for long enough to even just get data off the phone so you should add a fuck tonne of salt to water then freeze that to get it much colder than ice and then submerge the phone in a waterproof bag in the sub zero solution to super chill the phone so it’ll stay on long enough.

Or just leave the phone in the freezer and run the cable out to the PC.

I got a Xiaomi Mi A1 a few weeks ago. Ships with Android ONE - 7. With an upgrade to Oreo available as soon as I turned it on. Dual SIM or SIM + SD, 64GB Internal Storage and 4GB memory, great screen, ok camera. Very pleased with it. About £170 on various ebay stores.

Had one for a while, great phone for the price, You can improve the camera by rooting an installing the Google one. Not got around to it yet myself.

I spent a large part of today backing up, wiping, unlocking, flashing, magisiking, rooting, xposing, busyboxxing, restoring and reconfiguring my Pixel XL in the pursuit of a native clipboard manager.
I now have a clipboard manager.
But I can no longer pay for stuff by tapping my phone against it.
This is not a good tradeoff and I now need to reverse all those steps.
Agggggggggggggghh.

Yeah, I've not bothered with my last two phones and was a serial rooter before that.

I'd still love to be able to turn off more ads but the drawbacks are annoying.

Yeah, I know.
I've been googling ferrits recently and now my ads are all about 'Ferrit insurance'. 😏

I use DuckDuckGo for 95% of my searching. You should make it your default search engine.
Also use Tor a bit when I think about it...
"What is the best way to snare a midget when you only have bailing twine?"
Not my phone so I shall investigate further.
Good shout on the CPU usage.
