poking around ebay reveals another few interesting models - this going cheap too

The one to look for is the sightly newer one with a tapered steerer, they're Tange Infinity tubing.

I don't know what the clearances are like though, not that big I'd think.

Kona Unit and Salsa El Mariachi are also both on my hit list too.

Oh, you hate my suggestion of a Kona Operator for bikepacking :-(

nothing says bikepacking like a boxxer up front and seven gears at the back :~)

@platypus I have one of these (actually I have both but one isn't built up yet), and a large restrap frame bag fits nicely into the 20.5" frame.
