i was so happy with 3 billboards; love in bruges, seven psychopaths was a bit of a strange one. I thought rockwell & mcdormand were incredible and i don't think the jokes took away from the emotion at all. each to their own i guess!

The wife and her sisters thought 3 billboards was a good film

Went to see Jumanji 2 last night. Was pleasantly surprised, there were some obvious gags, but we both left the cinema with smiles on faces. Money well spent for an evening of light entertainment.

Me and my partner are definitely in the minority here for sure.
I’d go into further detail but I wouldn’t want to spoil it/writing a few hundred words on why you don’t like something seems a bit daft! -

watched the preview. definitely won't be watching 3 billboards.

I loved it.
Saw the trailer, wouldn't make me want to see it, glad I'd already seen it.Also, what's the fascination of putting the word "cunt" into trailers now?

I enjoyed The Shape of Water. Definitely worth a watch. As long as you don't mind surreal stuff.

what a fucking poster!
/i have no idea what this film is about. Possibly about mid 90's discobiscuit scene. With Nicolas Cage.

Mandy is set in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Red Miller, a
broken and haunted man hunts an unhinged religious sect who
slaughtered the love of his life. -

The only thing better than the poster is plot description.
The only thing better than the plot description is the poster -

I Tonya was good, slightly mad and sad but worth a watch and you dont have to like ice skating

molly's game:
earnest, life affirming stuff about a flawed woman that takes advantage of gambling addicts to the point where they top themselves.
also: good looking, morally bereft white people get a free ride.
top actoring tho.

3 billboards:
I think it's great, really well paced with some proper dark black comedy. I laughed a lot.

Watched Darkest Hour in an almost deserted Streatham Odeon and still almost entirely ruined by people talking, rustling bags and eating.
I and others shushed the key couple of culprits but it didn't help. Whispering throughout the whole thing, even the key 'fight them on the beaches' speech. Somehow choosing the quietest scenes to rummage for yet more snacks.
I've stopped going to Picturehouse/Ritzy due to pay/union dispute so guess it's living room sofa for me from now on. Previously swore off the Odeon due to audience, but thought this film wasn't really a popcorn and Starburst flick.

Saw the new Pixar film yesterday, Coco. I really enjoyed it. Recommend bringing tissues.

• #13967
Streatham odeon is such a terrible place to watch movies.
-
• #13968
Where would you go instead given the Picturehouse issue? Which I wish didn't exist as they are about to open round the corner from me...
-
• #13969
Probably going to the cinema tonight.
3 billboards

Nearly got in a fist fight in South Woodford cinema when I had free tickets to see the shittest james Bond film (the one where Madonna rocks up and stinks the place out with her "acting".) Bloke behind had his feet over the seat next to me and was twatting the seat up and down.

I think cinemas attract sociopaths in the same way the Catholic Church attracts kiddy fiddlers.
-
• #13972
totally this. summed up beautifully. a proper return to form for mcdonagh after the weak seven psychopaths
-
• #13973
We still picturehouse, but yeah if you don't you're a bit stuck. Can't wait for the west Norwood one to open.

Picturehouse strike called off...

I heard it was really good, managed about 40 minutes
Piss poor.
A good film that could have been great, were it not for Colin Farrell's hammy "Oirish" shtick.
But you could say that of pretty much anything he's in.
