  • We've got a baby on the way and somehow I've managed to turn this into a reason to buy a new bike, Woowhoo

We're looking at the logistics of work and nursery. I'm a fairly flexible in terms of when I need to be in the office/ home working so in all likelihood I will be dealing with most of pickups and drop offs. We only have one car and the wife will need that every day. The nursery is about 5 miles from home and on my way to/from work.

I don't like the idea of a tag along trailers, or those dreadful looking seats which you bolt to your bike. So it has to be a Cargo bike, doesn’t it? a larry vs harry bullitt looks ace, but way too much bike for my needs and, if I'm sensible out of my price range.

I'm thinking an Omnium cargo might fit the bill, it’s about the right price range ish. The issue I have is I’m struggling to find many example of them being used for transporting little people, or the likely price of seats / covers.

Does anybody have any other suggestions I should be considering? or useful advice ?

  • Google is very useful.

  • I'm in exactly the same situation as you. Looked at Bullitt, Douze and Omnium but all are a bit pricey. Secondhand bakfiets.nl seems like the best budget friendly option, but might need some mods for disc brakes an other nice to have's.

If only Omnium would update the frame specs for thru-axle discs, wide tyres and more dropout options. Price does still seem steep for a basic Double-Butted Chromoly Steel Frame.

Came across Bogbi a while ago and seems like a solid contendor, no word or real world pricing or availability though.
