That's a Tri bike though. For skinny's stuff and shorter races aren't the older Cervelos faster? SpeedConcept was meant to be decent too.
What about those seat-tube deleted bikes like TriRig and Diamond and the one that Tops was riding?

He's asking about currently available though.
Have heard suggestions that the P5-3 (ie the UCI legal one) might be faster than the P5-6 at low yaw as well.

"New P2 is higher (we have to use an adjustable stem to get Rich lower on it), but there's your answer and it's £25 or something from Halfords. It's a really good frame - for 2016 we used the rest of Rich's budget on aero testing rather than a P5! Trek Speed Concepts are good but many more ££ than a P2 which would be my first choice if I was buying new - our product manager is probably going to get one for next year.
Personally I ride a Focus branded Walser but that's because I want to be all flash and Euro for those that recognise what it is :D"

"It'll depend on position really - the Shiv is quite short so you might end up quicker if you have a slightly different position. You'd probably need to go P5 to see a material difference." -

So basically - a P5 or a SpeedConcept :)
-
• #16858
To be fair I'd buy an older frame.
Reason for (possible) departure from my old P2 is that the seatpost likes to slip. I've shimmed it with a bit of metal can, but it's slipped again. Now I'm having nightmares it'll happen in a race.
I'll speak to xav and see what he recommends.
Perhaps I should just fix my seatpost with a new one.

What size was your P2? If it was a 58 buy that P4 that was for sale on here. Super duper fast at low yaw.
All the top superbikes are fast, it's now about the position you can achieve on them and how it interacts with your position. You could take a super fast position on a frame that's 5w slower than a P5, put it on a P5 and go slower.
So basically buy the one you like the look of.

"a P2 which would be my first choice"
I don't know. It's Xavier, he has to keep some stuff to himself. :)
-
• #16861
Nah it's a 54 I think. For sure not 58.
-
• #16862
Just stick a bit of wood under it or get a Real Man™ to clamp it for you. :P
Used carbon paste on it? Maybe you're too fat for a Cervelo? ;) -
• #16863
IT says 4nm max. Paste won't do anything as it only clamps just at the top, it's a crap design.
I'll shim it again and get it solid, but I'm just nervous it might slip again at a bad moment.
-
• #16864
on the older cervelos the stack stays the same or at least very similar, just the top tube got longer, so might still be worth considering...
-
• #16865
Bah, Zipp stuff says 4Nm max and mine probably double that to stop them rotating. It worked.
(don't tell Zipp warranty dept)

• #16866
Seriously though, can you fit something in the "seat tube" so that it won't fall? It's what people were doing to the PX Stealth frames.
Also, are the bolts lubed?
-
• #16867
my old P2 is that the seatpost likes to slip
My T3 works with lubed screws, carbon paste and torque by the book. I think I roughed up the lacquer with some emery paper too. It's the same post, but mine supports twice your weight. Unless it's the UCI one with the metal infill piece, in which case all bets are off, that was definitely a position adjustment waiting to happen. As @hippy says, if you want belt and braces you can stuff a wooden chock under it.

Holy shit, tester agreed with something remotely mechanical I suggested.
Sell your bitcoins!!! The end is... how do you spell nye?
-
• #16870
I did look at it before, when considering options, but it won't work. Too long.
-
• #16871
how do you spell nye?
Depends what you're trying to say, but in your context you want nigh
-
• #16872
That looks much better.
-
• #16873
I am not putting some wood in the frame @hippy

What happens in private, apparently does not stay private.
Cervelo P5 or Trek SpeedConcept I should think - unless @xavierdisley is about to bring out a new frame :)
