  • Linseed oil could be a good cheaper option. You have to be careful with how you store it and rags you've used with it though to prevent spontaneous combustion.

  • Thanks. It needs sanding, then I just would like it to feel smooth and tactile and warm, not hard/varnished. Won't be near dogs/young kids but intended to be picked up.

    There are so many options, but I like this for a non-toxic, zero VOC approach to wood finishing. You're definitely the first person to use it on laminate plywood as it's usually reserved for fine wood-working.
