  • Watched The autopsy of Jane Doe on Netflix last night. If you like creepy 70's style horror I would highly recommend it. Best film I have seen on Netflix for a while

  • Gone Girl was fucking stupid. Pulp fiction can be fun but that managed to be less charming than 50 Shades!

  • Dunkirk

Found myself enjoying this. It is more about time and true events than characters (there is next to no dialogue) but that seemed fitting.

With a couple of exemptions it wasn’t too heavy-handed in the Hollywood stylisations (dat gliding bit tho).

I’m a sucker for Nolan’s films. Memento is the shit.

  • The Florida Project is nice. That really is about characters.

  • Hmm. Soooo slow though. Could have binned a lot of the 'sitting against walls' bits and got the story going a bit earlier. Seemed to rush all the actual plot into the last 20 mins.

Watching either The Post or All the money in the world tonight.

  • This was my takeaway as well. Looking forward to getting back to business as usual, Nolan fucking my mind, hard.

Molly's Game - Fun to be had, a few minor gripes but an entertaining retelling of Molly Bloom's story. As a footnote - Jessica Chastain looks fucking incredible in it.

All the Money in the World - Christopher Plummer as JP Getty is truly excellent and more fitting in the role than Spacey was I reckon. Apparently Ridley Scott wanted Plummer originally but had to bow to financier demands for a bigger name. I don't find hostage/ extortion based flicks that appealing so there wasn't much there for me personally on the plot front but performances are impressive throughout, especially Michelle Williams.

Jonesing hard for Three Billboards and Lady Bird.

  • It's normal for me to like the scene setting 1st hour of films!
That was the thing the The Florida Project did brilliantly. I thought the conclusion was a little disappointing, but that's kinda how this type of film is.

  • Don't get Jessica Chastain. She looks like a Dundee junkie if you ask me

  • Watching either The Post or All the money in the world tonight.

Went for I, Tonya instead. Is really good - completely unexpected from a film about vindictive ice dancers. Very, very funny - Alison Janney as Tonya's mum is just brilliant.

  • Thought I would put in here first. Free DVD’s! Couple have scratches, but all work. Preference to those who can pick up from NW10.

  • mother!

Pretty fucking intense for a my first bible stories movie.

    I liked it.

  • The Post. Bit disappointed. All rather confusing to start with. Picked up later on. The missus enjoyed it more. I may have been adversely impacted by Friday night martinis.

  • Disaster Artist. Yes
    Gone Girl. No

  • 3 Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

    Meh.

  • Barry Lyndon!

Atypically the pace is glacial and consistent, rolling relentlessly towards the terrible conclusion.

And some of the most beautifully composed and shot scenes in cinema: the candlelight gambling tables, the gentleman's club and the duel in the barn.

Two of the Coen Bros finest there too.

  • This is a great little study of the cinematography in BL, worth a look at his other videos too, I think he's great...

  • Thanks for that: fascinating!

Chuffed to learn he composed some of the scenes (eg gentleman's club), based on oils of the period: the similarity always struck me (honest).

  • Not really one for picking favourites but The Man Who Wasn’t There is definitely their most underrated film. Really well written and looks amazing.

Same as Lyndon. Despite its length I find its the one of his I go back to the most.

  • Anyone recommend a decent psychological horror on Prime/Netflix/NOW TV? Ta

  • Have heard that Black Mirror is good?

  • going to watch Goodfellas, again, Its winter, leave me alone

  • Watch Mean Streets first: you'll see Goodfellas in a new light.

  • youre probably very right, only I dont have it today, will check

  • Goddam. Samuel L in early part too. Well I never

  • A Bronx Tale is worth a look: interesting because Robert De Niro is on the other side (and he directed).
