  • On the kind of bikes that generally have dynamos fitted to them, low spoke count wheels are usually not the most sensible choice. If you already have a rim to use then by all means. If you're using it on nice roads and your light, sure. Personally, being a fatty and racing stupid distances over stupid terrains I will stick with 32h when possible. I do have lower spoke count wheels but I do like not having to worry about any durability issues... at least until I crash them :)

  • Indeed, but I figure if he's 75kg and audaxing it's probably safe enough. I certainly wouldn't want to do endurance races on my 24/20 Reynolds 46, but I didn't worry about light touring in France with a Carradice.

  • Yeah, I used 18h/20h? Ksyriums for a while since they came stock with my Tarmac. Never had any issues with them. As well as weight, it does depend on how observant you are, how quick you react to potholes, etc.
