Anyone on HUEL?

  • True, although I'm not really trying to cut out sugar. Probably best to get vanilla with all the sweetener in already or I didn't hate mixing in a bit of hot stock and bengal spices for a savory lunch thing, needs tweaking though.

  • Not sure if it's the change of season but my appetite has gone through the roof. All summer it was a Huel for lunch and nothing until dinner, now its a Huel for lunch and then a second lunch from the canteen a few hours later... Need to reign it in a bit because the whole point of this was to stop spending money on food at work.

  • £7.50 off referral code if anyone is looking to try?

  • Week 2 of this. Wasn't really working but last couple of days I've just started adding a double shot of coffee and Nutribulleting it and I'm getting more involved...

  • Yep, makes it quite pleasant that way.
Pint of whole milk, 3 scoops of Huel, shot of espresso, blended. Half a banana if there's one nearby too.

  • Started adding one of those complete greens powders to Huel in order to make it even more gross.

Actually not bad. Whether or not these things actually do anything is another matter.

  • I live in the Netherlands and traveled back to Uk for 3 weeks over Xmas. Didnt bring any huel as i`m only having it at lunch at work at the moment.

Having put on some Christmas weight Im back in NL and back on the Huel and Im really glad to be. I think i just like the simple routine of it. I each it at lunch, then have a normal dinner and I will lose weight.

  • Yep, same. I combine it with intermittent fasting (16/8), so my first meal is a Huel at 2pm and that gives me until 10 to have dinner, which is usually at 8 apart from training days. So probably more 18/6 most days.

  • Anyone East want to swap a bag of unflavoured for vanilla?

  • This seems quite interesting for longer distance or multi day cycling just to get the calories in without spending too much time. How's this stuff with water, how easy does it mix up, does it need to stay refrigerated or whatever?

  • Yeah, you just mix it with water and consume. Doesn't need to be refrigerated if you're gonna drink it within a few hours but is more palatable when cold. It mixes easily now, without lumps since they updated the formula.

Not sure about using it for multi-day rides, it can make you feel a bit heavy but I guess it would be ok. Wouldn't ever go running after drinking it though. It's great as a recovery food.

  • Same same with intermittent fasting & huel. Still loving it too.

Would be cautious about it with exercise, you're downing 500+ml of water with the powder so can be pretty sloshy. Unless you left it in a bottle in a cage and ate it more slowly, dunno if that would be weird while riding though?

  • They just started doing granola, if you're into breakfast.

  • Ive ordered some of the Myprotein version, going to see how it compares but seems to be the same and half the price.

  • Just ordered some granola....intrigued!

Also, anyone know if the bars have improved in the last few months? They were far too dry for me when I tried them

  • Report back if it’s good/terrible.

They’ve updated the bars now and apparently the texture is much improved. The sugar content in the bars and cereal aren’t ideal but are basically as low as you can go while still being edible.

  • Carb killa bars are really good and incredibly low sugar. Expensive though. And aiming to be a different thing to the huel bars I guess.
Gf is very excited about the granola, keen to hear how that is.

  • they've changed the formula - v2.3 - bleurrrghh

  • Not good? I'm curious about the new vanilla but don't like the idea of artificial sweeteners on a daily basis...

  • Just ordered one of each of 2.3 plus some flavour samples...

  • No, to me it tastes even more of pea protein

  • Is there a lower / reduced carb version available yet?

  • A lower carb version is something we’re looking at in the future.

    Probably not too far off...

  • No but there is a mini guide:
    https://huel.com/pages/low-carb-huel-two-hacks

Still not low low carb, but better. Can anyone tell me why they recommend a protein isolate and not a blend?
