Didn't they cost similar amounts new?
I thought it was only in the past 10yrs or so that RR had ramped up the prices to sit alongside Bentleys and S Classes.

Time capsule alert. If I had any more garage space this would be mine. Brown vinyl interior agogo. I'd be like an import Rockford.

Yum.

Even so, I'd expect to see some on eBay/CL etc

Awesome.

Wow, clean out the fag ends and drop a turbo 13b in there but keep it ratty. Fun!
Reality is that would absorb so much time and money that the fun would not last

the central locking on my landbrover doesn't lock the driver door anymore. i can hear a slight, but choked whirrring sound when you click the lock button on the key fob but you can still open the door. any pro tips?

Micro switch telling the locking mechanism that the door is still open?
Modern day appearance of the possessors of the Gaderene swine?

How old is it? If LR electrics are still anything like the electrics on my old 1986 SD1 then the connectors will constantly corrode and tarnish and need cleaning up. As will the switch internals. It'll probably have similar Keikert lock motors which seem to need a full-fat jolt to make them fire.

it's a 2012 defender. frankly the fact that it comes OTP with central locking is quite an achievement.
i'm going to squirt wd40 on any and everything in the door lock mech and see if that makes a difference.

As above: WD40 is a degreaser. Try the WD40 with teflon, if you want to go that way

toptipz
thanks lads. i'd really rather avoid another trip to the garage, as lovely and helpful as they are. already dropped over a grand this month on a new window and some non-rusty step bars.

Recommended 12v air compressor?
-
• #39465
i bought it with the step bars in that state that so caveat emptor etc. the new ones are far sexier.

door's fixed.
tried the spare key fob and that seems to have worked - clicked the lock mechanism all the way. not a battery issue because i had it replaced in the OG fob when i had the car serviced about 3 months ago.
i give up, but also am happy it works.

Graphite grease or spray is the only thing that should ever go in a lock

Same! Plenty of 80 about, mostly used by travellers though, same for mitsubishi pajero etc.
I saw a not totally rotten 79 land cruiser the other day, was being used as a farm vehicle so prob fairly bad underneath. Really like the square ones defo > defender for me. Think you can still buy them new in Australia and Israel etc as a "troopy"
Other alternative (that's now gong up in value nicely) is a patrol ii, the really square 80s ones.

@diable @user80940 are you allowed to play in here? Does your mummy and daddy know you're here?
-
• #39471
