  • Do we have a thread for cuts yet?

I was sharpening a santoku on a combination India stone, was distracted and lost focus - Managed to stick a finger between the blade and the stone and slide right into the pad of my middle finger.

Not the worst knife injury, but finger pads like to bleed, it would seem, and superglue doesn't like loads of blood.

  • That sounds horrid, I usually cut a finer off a rubber glove and wrap some gauze round then jam it in the rubber finger nice and tight.

  • Did similar with a carving knife attempting to carve a gammon after the pub on Christmas Eve a few years ago... A&E nurses were withering about the injury

  • Pressure/binding and elevate above head can help to stop the bleeding for long enough for the glue to set. Otherwise butterfly stitches are always helpful if its really deep.
