Right have come to a decision, the Batavus and Guerciotti are basically the same bike. Originally the Batavus was supposed to be the winter/wet commute bike, but it wasn’t that comfortable on the commute. I’m not currently doing enough road riding to justify two road bikes so I’ve decided to sell the Guerciotti. Since the Batavus was a failure as a winter bike I decided I want something fat-tired and comfortable for the winter commuting, so going to buy a Surly Steamroller through cycle-to-work in January. That means I can finally stop torturing the Razesa on the commute and finally get it in and restored. The vision for the Steamroller will be 35mms and swapping out the fork for a Straggler disc, and run it fixed. Right now I can’t imagine a more fun bike.
As to the Guerciotti, would be interested to see what people think it is worth and where best to shift. I’ll list it here first, then maybe Facebook if it doesn’t sell. I was thinking £500? I wouldn’t be selling the Open Pro wheelset in the picture, but I have a serviceable Planet X wheelset instead. I also wouldn’t include the Romin as my arse loves them.
So spec is:
Guerciotti Record 58cm frameset, Columbus tubing (Thron I think)
Campagnolo Athena 11sp Ultra Torque groupset (2012 estimated)
Campagnolo Record Threaded headset (2 years old)
Nitto cockpit (S65 seatpost, Technomic stem 100mm, Nitto Noodle bars 40cm)
Planet X 11 speed wheelset
The bike has been serviced recently and has new cables and tubes, new bearings in the BB, and a new Miche cassette, 12-28 I think.
The frame has no dings, never been crashed, but the paintwork is fragile so it does have plenty of chips. Thoughts on price?
Back to the Razesa, have bought a Chris King headset for it which will get installed upon restoration. Will then make it into a nice summer build, dry weather only. I also have a Promax headset for the Bat, although in a rather dirty grey colour. I want it black: shall I just rattle-can it or look into having it anodised?
Sorry about the extra long post, been ruminating on this for a while.
