Ikea hack to get cheap 'Royal style' wall units.
I quite like that, a bit of elbow grease required but a lot cheaper than the real thing.

Ooo a furniture thread! I haeva few bits (Matthew Hilton sofa, Ercol chairs and stools) but I have officially started my collection with this chair from my old skating pal Jan who is now some super-amazing cabinet maker and designer:

now i have a hankering for his drinks cab:

Not furniture but: I've always hated televisions, then a friend showed me the Serif by the Bouroullecs. Also good.

Wow to those Jan Waterston pieces...

Possibly - photo of how you had it set up?

• #163
Unfortunately I don't have any pics of it set up as I didn't have a back up of files from my phone when it died, and it hasn't been set up since I moved.
The closest to what I could find online is this one, it shows the x-track posts and wall brackets. The shelves are the same width as the one with the radio on it, not the smaller top ones. I had a desk shelf instead of the drawers, cabinet. You you would need an extra x-post to hang the different length shelves as well. I can take pics of everything once I get the shelves, which are boxed up, out of storage on the weekend.

How was the desk shelf?

It was really handy if you want to use it as a small office space for a laptop. It was the one with the silver sides. I sold it on as I liked the black/beech combination you can get more than the silver. I'm moving o/s though, and it's not worth the hassle/shipping fees to get it sent.

Could also sell without the x-posts, cross rails and wall brackets if you just wanted to drill the e-tracks straight into the wall.
-
• #167
Do the x-posts mean you don't have to drill the wall at all, or do they mean just drilling in a few points?
Definitely interested.
-
• #168
You will have two drill points, one either side of the round wall bracket (you need 2 per post). If you drill the e-track directly, there are seven. You can have the x-post free standing, compressed against the ceiling, but these ones are 220cm tall, so wouldn't be tall enough. The posts are also useful if you have skirting or uneven walls.
