So managed pull the frame forks cranks apart over the last few days in between being on call. It’s definitely been used and not looked after. Some solid crap and grease and rust over years and years of build up. Fortunately nothing deep nor even cosmetically too challenging. Frame is straight with no dents nor cracks. Only issue I can see is that the rear dropout screws got completely trashed during delivery so will have to figure out what to do with them.
Used Meguiar’s All Purpose Cleaner which is definitely the best stuff I’ve ever used. Spray on and wipe then wash off after a few minutes. Repeated and the frame has probably lost a few stone of crap. Now leaving it to dry thoroughly before frame-saver, wax and polish, chasing threads and reaming ST.
Also trying to figure out the serial numbers. Definitely made for the Japanese market and think the dating is based on the Japanese year system so have to work that out.. hopefully some pics once I escape work and everything starts coming together a bit more.
