It's been about ten years since I've used Shimano disc brakes, but one method I used was to remove the wheel/disc, squeeze the lever a couple of times to make the pistons come out, then top up the reservoir with fluid.
Just be careful you don't overdo it, otherwise the pistons will come out of the caliper completely.
