Just got some more shots back from filmdev, does anyone else notice that sometimes the file sizes differ greatly? Medium scans can be between 1 and 4mb per shot, perhaps quirks in jpeg compression?
-
• #15303
You guessed correct. No indication of loss of quality though.
Nice shots!

Like the first two a lot.
I find the scans on the new scanner are a bit smaller than the old one, plus now jpeg only, I used to get Tiff which seemed to allow a bit of post production.

Oh no - have they stopped doing tiff? I don't tend to need them - but would be nice to have the option 😐

Nice stuff! Did you push the film at all?
-
• #15308
Not sure if they have stopped but the order form now states jpeg only..... might be able to get them by request.
Yes, this is pushed to 1600, it was a dark week!

"Q. Can I have my scans as a Tif file?
A. No. We have found very limited benefit to 8 bit tif files from the 8bit jpg files we offer. You can easily save out the jpg files to tif if you are going to work on them in a photo editor. "

I’m finding the L35AF is rad for gigs and street (...) cheers for that
You're welcome, glad you like it.
Better get a spare one as well before price reach Mju-II level I guess. -

Nice pictures everybody
@dirkbang I like the second and third one, nice vibe
@mi7rennie that machine shop looks rad.. love places like that
@elHuron like that train station portrait
@DavidTMB nice, looking good, especially for being pushed to 1600!

Looks like Brian Johnson in the Stockholm gig pic.

I get the same with mine, using iso 400 film doesn't make a difference. It just always seems to prefer to focus on the background, which results in out of focus portraits.

Thanks for posting the Mju II graphic, it's kind of the reverse of the Trip 35 which tends to stop down the lens as much as possible to keep depth of field

10 years... who would've thought, eh?
Ironically I think I've never seen you post a photo shot with your RB (or any other camera for that matter)!
: ]By the way it still irks me this is is the "non-digital film" thread instead of, well, just the "film", or "analog" thread.

Thanks to @nefarious post, opted for the Frontier scanner on my last batch from filmdev and couldn't be happier

Got a couple of rolls back from filmdev today - some shots have weird artifacts on the highlights. I was shooting TriX pushed to 1600 plus a flash for these, not quite sure what's caused them...

..oh yes, I remember now (I'm following you already). A very nice stream of images.
