  • I've got an Alpkit Numo and a Thermarest Z-lite. My plan if I'm going somewhere really cold was to take both I think. Should be warm enough?

  • Would love to claim that, but it wasn't me - but I'm definitely trying this because they look fecking delicious :-)

  • I found out how to search the thread and it turns out the seitan recipe I ripped off was from @ooooooohhhhhhh

It was posted as a "chicken" recipe and I've made it a few times. It's great but I'd say it's much closer to pork or beef than chicken. I guess you could use different spices and herbs to make it taste like anything you want though.

  • Saw you used something called seitan fixer? As someone new to this thread, and a baker ( thus familiar with gluten in a different way) I am wondering about making seitan without any specialised ingredients. Any experience with that?

  • Ah right, I didn't actually use that (I have no idea what it is to be honest). Just used wheat gluten mixed with herbs, spices, nutritional yeast and water sith a good amount of light soy sauce and a bit of liquid smoke.

..the screenshot was from my post (it's here, including the lovely video) -
credit goes to @EB though who posted the recipe in the first place!

  • I made vegan Baileys to try and impress a girl. (I won't mention that it's really easy and that I stole the idea from a friend). It's absolutely banging. Recipe in the post below.

  • I used brown sugar because I have no idea what Sucanat is.

  • Sounds good, I might make this. 1 cup of whiskey for a whole bottle though? Sounds weak to me. Might mess with the proportions

  • I put about quarter of a bottle in (all I had left).

  • Cool, cheers. I'll give it a go, also to impress a girl (my long-term girlfriend though)

  • I've been seeing this girl for over a year but it can't hurt to re-impress every once in a while.

  • Sleeping bag hunt is going well, you think that last item in the results is suitable for vegans?

  • Hopefully it hasn't been tested on animals.

  • If only there was a barnivore of sex toys..

  • Aaaah. Vegan Christmas dinners.

Today’s hotel served me up dry potatoes, carrots, sprouts and parsnip. The cunts didn’t even give me an extra tatty. Just exactly the same as the carnists but with the turkey, sausages and gravy left off.

I’d have hammered frozen tofu into their urinals, but I was so hungry I didn’t have the strength.

  • Shove potatoes in their exhaust pipes at least!

  • Any spots in/around Clapham Junction?

  • Feel your pain.
Our works do was at Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield. The most garish place I’ve ever been with the most fucked up collection of taxidermy I’ve ever seen(zebras, giraffes, bear heads, chandeliers made out of parrots etc). At £100/head I was hoping for slightly better than asparagus grilled a week before, a sweet potato curry massively inferior to Liz’s recipe and fruit salad.
The carnies food was artisanal as fuck by comparison.

  • On that note, what’s everyone making for Xmas dinner? We’ve got 7 to feed.
We’re planning on doing stuffed seitan roast and getting one of the fancy cauliflower wellingtons from Tesco.
Tested a Yorkshire pud recipe yesterday, was pretty awesome but soy milk makes it a bit sweet. The texture was pretty spot on.

    Now, there's a thought :-)

    Anyone got a recipe?

  • No vegan option at mine. Include me out.

  • Correction, we’ll have to make one, they were special order only at Tesco. It’s just a cauliflower head, stuffing and pastry..

  • We made Meera Sodha's red cabbage parcels for a Christmas dinner this weekend and they garnered excellent reviews amongst all and sundry, along with a roasted squash.

Leftover stuffing fried up nicely for breakfast too

  • Last year's work vegan option was - literally- a bowl of carrots. Didn't go this year.
