Thanks! And now with some King cups & Salsa clamp installed - diy press worked fine
Frame was 1730g - has a 135mm rear with seatstay & chainstay bridge threads for fender mounts and a drilled platform for a double-leg kickstand. Original fork is heavy but nukeproof Cr-Mo at approx 1100g with lowrider thru-holes (non-threaded).

This will be a good build. I have a 2005 T800 which I bought new, and it's been the best bike I've ever owned. Utterly solid and dependable, surprisingly quick when it needs to be, and a joy to ride. I'd suggest pairing it with wheels built using Mavic A719 rims.

This is looking like it has some nice potential.

Always liked these frames. Nice colour, looks in good condition too. What size is it?

The frame is 23" / 58cm - ie "Large". It has been ridden less than 750km so condition-wise practically like new... only few chain marks around BB area.
For the A719 wheels suggestion - I have already a pair of predecessor Mavic T519 36h laced 3x with DT Champion to Coda cartridge bearing hubs. Bombproof but really heavy set, which I will keep as back-up / for the fully-loaded-long-haul.
Still I'm going to build a pair of new wheels as part of this project for bit shorter-haul trekking and commuting - still something reliable but hopefully bit lighter...
...Now got around installing the bottom bracket as well. SQUARE TAPER of course - XTR BB-UN91 (only show mounted, practically NOS/NIB). Debated this shortly against Phil Wood or SKF BAS600, but both cost at least triple compared to this UN91 ebay bargain. Also, this will not be the only XTR part to go into this build ;)
Last photo below also showing the seatpost & stem department - as well as the already mounted CK. Some older Thomson Elite bits - stem is 26mm, not the more common MTB size 25.4mm...A lot of shiny silver, but will be balanced with some black & grey also going forward

Was looking at these frames a while ago on eBay when on the hunt for a reliable tourer. Keep it up, looking good so far.

I have the cannondale T800 (size Jumbo). T800 is the same frame, but build with lower spec. components. Great frame for touring! I built it up with Campy Athena 3 x 11.
I use tires between 25 - 40 mm.

Only small progress but as the thread is already pic-heavy... Got some bars! Nitto B177 aka Noodle in 44cm
Next up with the build will be braking department... I sort of wanted to go cantilever or even Magura HS66, but the frame is actually designed for linear pull - no hangers, and the toptube cable guides run at 7-8 o'clock which means the cable bend by the seatpost clamp would be ackward with cantis.
So it will be XTR M951 arms + Tektro RL520 levers + Tektro 917.12 adjusters + Tektro T-3 boosters with a custom twist. Why boosters... why not? :) They should clear the rack mounts I hope...

Why?
Breathing some life into this CAAD3 T2000 ! (NOS frame!)
Soulless aluminium ("sielutonta alumiinia", old finnish proverb) and touring may not resonate well together but I'll give it a go! Will be nicely spec'd ;)
More to follow...
