  • Soar, Iffley Road and Tracksmith are the worst!

They're seriously trying to create something for running that has never been needed, just to milk the gullible.

  • * tears wrapping off @gwgs xmas present and hunts for receipt *

  • Hahaha, now if it's free that's a whole other thing!

I just feel running isn't cycling where prior to Rapha and Assos no one was approaching the design with an aesthetic purpose and everything was just functional. They're trying to put a premium on something that the existing athletic brands are already over charging for anyway. Why add a barrier to entry for something that is an inherent human activity, that's the beauty of running, minimal outlay. It's like these companies are repackaging something we already own, is free and selling it back to us.

  • Speaking of which, I need some nice looking understated running kit (Black) - cheaper than Nike or Adidas preferably. Any suggestions?

    Cheque is in the post.

  • Decathlon - Kalenji brand.

  • +1. Apart from freebies, I reckon more than half the running gear I've had over the last ten years has been from Decathlon. Can't really fault it.

  • Gorgeous pre-brekky run this morning across crunchy grass on Blackheath and Greenwich Park. Hoping the 3 degrees forecast for the evening will be enough to avoid a frosty track.

Oh, here's an interesting story about one of our club's members. On the Sunday run I taught Dame the English for ankles. Very nice chap.

  • Psa: Asics Gel Fuji Trabuco 5, Dennis the Menace colourway just £28 at Decathlon.

  • here's an interesting story

Hope it all works out for Dame, sounds a tough situation in limbo not knowing what the outcome will be.

  • Wow, what a story that is. Hope it all works out for him.

  • First run of Hansons plan for Brighton Marathon in the bag.

haven't run for 10 weeks and needed a couple of brief walk-breaks but got through it and was rewarded with some endorphines at the end for my troubles and feeling pretty great now.

Also just joined the LFGSS Run group on strava so expect to see some excruciatingly slow runs from me appearing now.

  • good to see you back running!

I haven't started training for Brighton specifically yet but am trying to run 100 miles this month just to hopefully starting January with some miles in my legs rather than last yea with nothing - I've been very bad so far this month (less than 25 miles as of this morning!), but still think its doable with a bit of effort!

  • cheers.

was a bit bummed out after my surreyhillschallenge dnf and piled 6kg on so it's a bit harder than it could have been. (much harder than if i'd stuck with my diet plan as i was aiming to be 20-25kg lighter by now).

hopefully back on it now (just in time for christmas 😩)

  • Christmas is a good time to get started. you can go as slowly as you want but still have that satisfaction of being out there, doing something, rather than sat at home watching tv you don't want to watch, talking to people you don't like, playing games that are boring and eating food that isn't as good as promised. Plus work doesn't interfere with your training.

I need a target. i'm aimlessly doing random exercise at the moment.

  • Two weeks ago I ran a 10 mile race, this Sunday I have a 10k race. I want my pace to be faster. Any tips? Just run a bit faster seems self evident.

  • Caffeine?

  • Poxy rain.

  • Skin is waterproof

  • I’m finding it hard to process all the data now. Just need an independent arbitrator to tell me if he’s guilty or not.

  • Do you run naked ?

  • south east london parkrunners - i'm after some advice.

I'm going to take my twins to do a double parkrun on christmas day - does anyone know the nearest 9am parkrun to the 10am Dulwich one?

I was thinking hilly fields or peckham rye, although hilly fields would be a bit of a lung buster with 40kg of ballast. I've not run peckham rye so any advice gratefully received

Bonus points for it being suitable for a big old road running pushchair
