  • I once forgot to bring a t-shirt to work and had to spend the day in a sleeveless baselayer/singlet and a hoody. I looked like an aldi Eminem.

  • My lifestyle basically requires a spare set of clothes at work...

    #RockstarLyf

  • Damn I love that my work attire is tax deductible!

  • Looks like it's going to be cold but mostly dry tomorrow, so bike it is, CR7 to N16. Got a couple of xmas drinkies nights on Wed and Thurs and Mogwai at Brixton on Friday so tomorrow will be the only day this week that I get to ride the whole way. If the weather stays like this then I won't be complaining too much

  • Red sky at night...

It's looking quite clear now. Icy as fuck tonight, I imagine.

    Stay safe out there, kids.

  • Today was grim. Sub zero ride to work in the rain and freezing point on the way home.

Ugly shimano Goretex shoes, Rapha Softshell and winter ninja baselayer made it just about bearable.

Where were the other cyclists? My concern is ithe meltwater will freeze overnight. Fun times.

  • -4 at around 6am tomorrow morning, and hanging around -3 at about 9am.

I got on with it today and will be on the way home, but I think tomorrow morning might be suicide.

  • I once got dressed at 4.50am in the dark and ended up wearing this. I had no idea until I arrived and took off my coat

  • fuck, i don't have much option about cycling in. plus have arranged breakfast with @Skülly tomorrow morning

  • Get him to bring you a thermal beret.

  • why did your one night stand have one of those?

  • You’re saying you wouldn’t be drawn to someone wearing that out?

  • It's mine! A truly excellent birthday present from my girlfriend.

I certainly have a much longer relationship with myself than a one night stand

  • Where were the other cyclists?

    You're just the hardest. :)

  • Some lovely rides today, only going home just now was a bit icy along smaller streets in Hampstead. Very slippery down Christchurch Hill. I walked to East Heath Road, nearly falling over twice, but then it was fine all the way.

  • Saw a middle aged gent on the ground on Q1 tonight, sudden black ice patch on the exposed bit by the bridge near Bermondsey station. Chipped a tooth, bit bloody on his chin and in his mouth. Poor sod, seemed a bit humiliated that I tried to help him up and show a bit of compassion. The ice was really surprising how it just appears under-wheel, SO thin and utterly invisible.

Pride comes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall /10

  • -7 in Glasgow last night, luckily I was pished riding home from a party so didn't really feel it. Everything seems to be properly gritted now so it's not too bad. Already had one black ice crash this season, hopefully the last.

  • There'll be a lot of people who fall off in that kind of situation. Was this on a minor street? Much to be avoided when it's icy. Stick to the main streets, as it's only there that constant car traffic suppresses the icing over.

  • thermal beret

A good beret is made of felt. It's the warmest fabric.

  • Near Millwall's football stadium on Q1, on a shared-use path off road, in a rather exposed spot.

  • Yes, it's about time to post this again:

Always remember, kids: In the UK, utilities tend to be under the carriageway, which is therefore slightly warmer and less likely to ice over.

  • To change the topic this morning commute was possibly more horrid than yesterdays MTB race which was awful. cold wet rubbish ran down my tights into my nice water proof and rather warm shoes. needless to say after a 45 minutes my feet were no longer dry and warm. They were yesterday in the race.

Jwestland - this is why i just sayno to any cyclepath that is mixed with pedestrians unless i am on a plod. yoou just cant make progress and pedestrians are truely oblivious. best avoid them at all costs.

  • Knew it was going to be cold and wet. Apparently peloton heroes missed the message; those mudguard grams are really going to kill the Strava splits. Cunts the lot of them.
