  • Well it looks like a joy to ride with those DDs, that much is for sure :) Maybe you could get it wrapped in black vinyl? It would also help to protect the frame if you're planning to ride it during winter.

  • I think I'll be fighting a losing battle to protect the frame beyond the top tube as it's going to be my new work bike, so it's guaranteed to be getting abused regardless. :)

With regards to the component choice...
Smud saddle is my favourite saddle apart from the infinity seat.
Supertype seatpost is purely because I wanted a layback, and I've had a couple of supertypes before with no issues. Plus they're available pretty cheap.
Chris King headset is always a given for me no matter what bike it's on.
Factory five stem is the only decent solution for 31.8 with a threaded steerer.
Nitto risers just because they're simple, plain and were cheap enough.
Chub hubs because I got the pair brand new, unused, for £100...too much of a bargain to pass up.
I've had them before and like the quality and the looks.
I was planning to go with Mack's to keep the Polish theme going... But as mentioned... For the money the chubs weren't going to be beaten.
Carbon rims were actually easier to get in the required sizes than aluminium. And not bad at all price wise.
Time atacs are also a given as I've been using them for over 20 years.
Sugino 75 DD's simply because I was bored of Omniums but had no desire to go back to square taper... And for £235 ish quid were as cheap as I was going to get them new.
Factory five lattice ring because it came up second hand on here at the right time, for the right price.
YBN 410 chain because it's become my favourite chain over the last few years.
Maxxis refuse 28mm rear because it's my most trusted tyre for fixed street use.
Continental gp4000s 2 on the front because it's about the best option currently available in 650c size.

So basically the entire build was based around components I trust, that function well, and that could be had for a good price... But luckily, I love the look of them all too. :)
