  • Some people from the Indian sub continent voted leave as they were not happy that they had to get visa and Europeans don't.

  • I don’t think stupidity is inherently a White British thing.

  • But not only that, it's much easier to abuse workers that are on visas: You can't as easily get rid off/harass EU citizens, as even with all the problems we are now having, a job is a job and you can't just suddenly be told

"oh we are cutting your wage and you are under the lower earnings now for the visa"
"sorry you have to earn 35K now"
"you want another job? too bad, because if you lose this one nobody will sponsor your work visa"

All it brings is more easily exploitable labor, and ironically one of the issues driving Brexit is that people are being undercut/exploited by UK bosses. So then they have to compete with more even easier exploitable labor, I don't see how that's going to help them.

And immigrants on visas are being squeezed more as well by the government, so voting out cos "it's unfair that EU ones get it easy" is also a huge open goal.

  • But not only that, it's much easier to abuse workers that are on visas

That was me for 5 years.

In fact all of what you said was me.

Its awful, I could say it slowed down my career but thats selfish.

  • Think that it was a ploy by the leave people.

  • The East Europeans were coming here to pick fruit for low wages, and they aren't now. So the fruit is not being picked as the pay is not enough.

  • Coloured folk are all forin, none are born here. Just like that Traditional Britain Group keep calling themselves disillusioned patriots.

  • ‘Traditional’ Britain

  • Is that the employer is abusing the workers. Look how many companies, that the government announced, have been caught not paying the minimum wage.

  • the first gen BAME can be very racist and xenophobic. Horrible thing of course.

  • Men from Somerset pretending to be 15c Moorish court entertainers?

  • Lest we forget the 1970's tory policy of repatriation of every forin person and descendants who came here since 1945.

  • Exactly, as UK unemployment is low. I also read that in some places you get £10 an hour picking fruit...and people still don't want to do it.

Or they try, but are not fast enough, it is pretty hard work.

So basically the UK in the EU citizens are not happy, and neither is the group for UK citizens

Nicolas Hatton, Chair of the3million says: “Our rights should not have an expiry date. More worryingly, there is still no clarity around the registration criteria for these rights. There are a huge number of people still in the dark about whether they will qualify or not. Hundreds and thousands of them might get a letter that they have to go.”

What worries campaigners most of all is that this agreement also greenlights the UK’s settled status proposal.

This requires over three million people to apply for the right to stay instead of being granted residence rights.

The current registration system has an error rate of 10% and a rejection rate of 27%. This is likely to go up significantly when three million people have to apply for settled status.

Pfff...again it's all ok if you have worked and have all the papers, but this will really be a problem for some people (carers, married and not working...)

  • 's what I said to the person moaning about it and considering UKIP (about two years ago). Its the employer undercutting and keeping the cream, not the workers.

  • And that's exactly the problem: There are now hoops being erected that were not there before, as EU law is more generous than UK settled status.

Hoops that rely on having sickness insurance that is poorly defined, for some reason the NHS is not always counted, and some people were asked if they had private.
Hoops that rely on paperwork that you may not have as you never thought you'd need it

I agree with your 1,2,3 points btw, especially 2 is a big problem, just taking a temp job often means you are penalized. Re 1 i could not fix a car or plaster to save my life...I don't get it. And 3, totally, but higher wages also means more inflation, you could also cut costs for essentials like rent and oh, who is in government again? :)

  • Anybody from Gibraltar on this thread/forum?

  • Totally

  • Isn't it the case that they don't get a vote in general elections? If true, I guess they probably think the Nasty Party couldn't give a toss about them...

  • But they do have votes for Euro/MEPs and did have a vote in the Referendum.

  • `I doubt that the government give two shits about Gibraltar.

  • All the brextards have left after today is the normally ill-defined Sovereignty.
Ceding Gibraltar to Spain and/or the EU brings an unexpected and solid example of loss of Sovereignty.

  • The right wing press haven't had Brexit on their front pages all week. Until now.

  • How bad is it to kind of be hoping for a Charlie Hebdo style attack at the DM office?

  • A really bad outbreak of legionnaires diseases would suffice.
