I'm sure its fine - assuming you get it set up right, then the stem bolts are what's maintaining the preload. It just seems too fussy for its own good, and IMO looks ugly to boot.

That'd be perfect. Sending you a PM, cheers.

I've just put 32c road tyres on mine and it leaves a hairsbreadth of space at the chainstays.

is that with 650b? i want to put 700 x 30 on mine but unsure it'll fit

I'm not shy of a bit of weenie-ism and still think its shit. The old porky one is much better.

I think they fit the SuperSix slightly better than the Caad12

AH, that explains why the one on my CAAD12 makes a creaky noise sometimes

Speaking of Cannondale headsets, I managed to lose the top cap on my caad12 on today's commute, no idea how.
Ideas on the best place to buy a replacement top cap that screws onto the expander in this?

700 x 32c (Clement Strada LGG)

It’s only for squashing your headset, once it’s tight and the stem is done up it’s fine as long as the expander is still in the steerer. It’s literally no more unsafe than normal.

Sweet, cheers!

But do order a new one :)

Don't Tune a bare light & cheap expander? It doesn't look very structural though.

I have a spare one somewhere

• #9345
Ah man, no stress. Was asking just to see if you were about anyway?

@monkdagola cba to read upthread but buy the honkiest compression expander you can. it's not somewhere to look to lose weight. I've got a Deda one which works well.

Just rode a slate. Not convinced at all. Also had a weird gyroscopic effect in the steering. Not sure what that was about. Other lefties don't feel like that. Also bike shop let me ride off with a loose front caliper.
The 650b thing though... Hmm, might have to build one. Just need an acceptable frame. Definitely liked the smoothness of the ride.

Anyone want my caad9? It’s a 60cm frame.
