Paperwork also costs money, as it costs time. As others here said, goods are a hassle but loss of regulatory harmonization on services is going to really hit some industries.
Some good news perhaps for the EU in UK, and UK in EU people. I won't hold my breath though...it still needs more progress to get there.
Re a lorry driver not wanting competition, I don't quite get it. Unless everyone is on contracts, and easy to get rid of.
Companies tend to keep contracted employees if they are good. But if you are a freelancer I can imagine it's a threat. And unemployment and reschooling...good luck :(
