  • Not surprised it was marked if that is how it was packaged! Are they bin bags?

Similar experiences for me as everyone else! Ordered a phil wood hub and cog which arrived 8 days after my dispatch email, post marked the day before.
In fairness the hub was considerably cheaper then elsewhere and a week is a huge deal, but a quick email to say whats happening wouldn't go a miss!

Also the hub came without a box or paperwork!? This could be normal, I've never owned a phil wood before.

Would probably use them again if the price was right but i may pop them an email before next time.

  • Apparently they installed the headset as a 'kind gesture' and 'tested' the frame before shipping by fitting wheels and a bottom bracket? I think the guy has been sold a display or demo bike.

    Velodrom

  • That's completely bullshit.

You don't need to build up a bike just to test it out, if they want to do that, they would use the frame alignment tool to ensure they're within EN 14781.

The only thing I can see is normal is installing the headset and fork as I have seen some frame come with the fork in it (rather than seperated).

Techincally it's a soiled stock and should be priced accordingly.

  • Have looked at there website before as some keen pricing, but appears to be a lottery if you get what you order.

A kind gesture would have been chasing and facing the BB shell :) not stripping down the last frame on the stock list thats been bulit up with wheels fitted and palming it off as new.

    Another shop to avoid.

  • Ordered a sugino 75 superlap bb. It should have come within 48 hours. Nothing. Emailed. They said they are confident it would arrive within 15 days. On the 12th day it did. Question:how do I know it's really the superlap version? Looks like a normal 75, mirror finish doesn't look very mirrored. Not that I'm good enough for it to matter but want to be sure they sent what I paid for. They told me it's clearly the superlap but this thread makes me wonder.

    Edit:I suppose it is shiny

  • I'm not convinced it's right, plus the box had been opened, who knows with these guys...

  • Ordered a few times from these guys first time item came in three days, the next item took three weeks and now 15 days have passed since my order. I think especially with the Phil bits I get from them they only order the bits from Phil in the USA when an order is placed. Hence the mad long time it takes to get some stuff from them...

does anyone have any experience with these wheels?
looking for some training wheels and these seem decent, can't really find anything better atm for my budget

  • Have you ignored the other 7 pages of this thread? Don't buy from velodromeshop.net if you want to actually receive the items.

  • Cheaper, sealed bearings, higher spoke count at 36 so should be very bombproof, 80g heavier, but that could be bought down a touch, company has good rep/service.

Shame PlanetX don't do the DP18 Novatec clinchers any more as they where a good buy, they do have a similar tub wheel, or check v-sprint.com

  • Do u even V-sprint?

  • If only I'd seen this thread first!
Currently at 7 working days (9 total) since my chainset was supposedly shipped via royal mail 24...
And yet for contrast, the pedals I ordered yesterday afternoon from Merlin cycles already arrived this morning using the same shipping service.

Velodrome shop have already tried to blame the 'Christmas backlog Royal mail are dealing with'.... Errr... It was 'shipped' in November!

My new build is sitting waiting for this last part! :(

  • Velodrome shop have already tried to blame the 'Christmas backlog Royal mail are dealing with'.... Errr... It was 'shipped' in November!

Yeah, that's nonsense. We use several couriers here at work and know Parcel Force were back up to speed after Black Friday within a couple of days. Nobody is reporting delays to us yet so don't see why RM would be any different.

  • @Black_Rainbow_Project order it somewhere else and back it as soon as it arrives from velodrome

  • I'm not made of money ya know! :)

  • @Black_Rainbow_Project go into your overdraft it will be worth to know you're not buying from a company that lies to you AND you'll be up and running on your new build quicka!

  • If only I had an overdraft!

  • I'm in the same position, and have received the same response, although thankfully I'm not in a hurry. It was their surly response, that is so blatantly a lie, that got me.
I'll definitely be writing a Google review because they don't have many online - this thread is full of too many "if only I saw this first" posts to let them get away with this crap much longer.

  • I agree there's a definite 'attitude' in their responses... Like I should be grateful that they've even chosen to accept my order or something, and as such should be happy to wait as long as they want me to.

  • I ordered a few times from them and was consistently pleased. Their prices-- especially when they offer % off (Black Friday was 20% off)-- are on a number of products unbeatable. Seems to be a very tiny operation but it is also a rather niche market.

  • Well it took eleven days for a 24hr service, but my chainset finally arrived!

  • Maybe this thread title needs an update? @Velocio

  • Mine also arrived yesterday. I guess the parts could have come from the same supplier, or maybe there genuinely was a hold-up at the post office... I know what I believe.

This was my second order with VS - the first time I thought they mistakenly upgraded the cog I paid for, although I now imagine its because they didn't have what I ordered in stock. I will not be using them a third time.
