The problem with the JD power survey is that it included "perception" issues i.e. nav controls being hard to use. In the sector of issues per vehicle Peugeot do very well and the other Frenchies are just below average.
What it does show is that you need cars with long warranty and cheap fixing... This is why Kia scores well. Certainly suzuki doing well is no surprise. Despite appearances they are engineered better than most.

Japanese quality appears to be slipping fast, and German is no indicator of quality. BMW are bottom of the table with 198 problems per 100 cars, and Audi don't fare much better.
According to that, buy a Kia, Skoda or Volvo.
