• I used a bit of soapy water, last pairs nothing at all. You can sit one side with a tube, get it out, put valve and the other one will sit easily.
    Another thing that works is two laps of tape, real tight instead of going down the channel. Remove core and pump furiously, the pressure will sit the tire and the tape in place.

    What do you mean by this? The tape I used went right up to and slightly up the walls, is there a method where the rim beds are left clear?

    Edit: I think I get what you mean, I did that, two laps tight and and extra bit round the valve after reading spotter's woes.

    Finally got my front seated with the home brew airshot. Bit scary pumping it up to 80 psi, but it didn't flinch, could do with a better connecting hose though as that was losing quite a lot of air.

    @dancing james I tried a bit of sealant, then a load of soapy water, but the air just wasn't getting in quick enough, even with the core removed.
