No way, language can be amazing.

The rulebooks say not to do it, but I can tell you from experience that it works fine. Might be different with mechanical systems, but the power from a Di2 or eTap motor is more than sufficient to hoik it up a big jump like that.
It's not the cleanest shift in the world, but it does work.

hollowgram

Same answer if I say I'll put them on the Saeco caad7 if I don't put them on the 12?

Well I think a Hollowgram always looks better than a Red crankset, although I think the tradition 5 arm Hollowgram would fit better on the 7. The modern Spiderings just look better on a modern Caad (either 10 or 12) IMO.

48/28 double used to be Peter Knottley's recommendation for "cyclotourists" 40 years ago. It did actually work using a regular Record front mech — downtube friction shifters of course — but changes were leisurely.

Currently packing 48/38 up front and 13-24 6-speed out back. Rehab gearing. With a knee problem you really need to get spinny and also slow down until you're sure you've got it fixed.

Been almost 11 months since picking this up and today felt like a good enough time to start building it up. Still not 100% decided on how, but I stood it on some place-holder wheels that I thought looked good and thats' for the time being encouraged me to think about a silver groupset, in this case DA-7700.

So unless I change my bind again for the millionth time, I just need some shifters and a rear derailleur, build up another set of wheels around some 7700 hubs and it'll be all set. Reckon it'll be done for Christmas (2018).

What an awesome paintjob! And I got a thing for split seattubes, veery nice :) Is it a mecacycle, gillen, caceg or sth else?

• #117697
This one is a Paris-Tours, like CACEG out of Montreuil, whilst Gillen was just across the border in Vincennes (and almost certainly built by one or both of the former -if they were actually ever different and not just a change of name, location and ownership).

Reminds me, most recent version of my Gillen, set up with maybe-not-real Cannondale disc wheels and a big yellow bucket.
