  • I did get headhunted by a proper photographer because of my suit though, so it wasn't all bad.

    @Bad_Science

  • “I got into riding track bikes around 2004. I took a risk in 2005, quit my day job and formed a group named Fixedgearlondon, we built hundreds of custom fixed gear bikes for the emerging fixed gear riders who were from all walks of life. Our crew expanded and we started an international magazine called “Fixed Magazine” initially I was the editor, but I eventually became the photographer, writer, designer, distributor and publisher. . I got to travel all over the world with my track bike, introducing the culture of fixed gear and teaching many people how to ride. I became fascinated with the fixed gear bike and everything that I could learn about this seemingly perfect machine. (did you know that the first 30 years of the “Tour De France” was raced on fixed gear bikes?!). . Finding myself at the forefront of the emerging fixed gear bike culture and having an outlet such as Fixed Magazine, helped me to develop a vast knowledge of all things fixed gear. I used Fixed Magazine to help push that knowledge out to the emerging Fixed gear communities around the world. In 2012 I organized “Impetus Momenta” (Impulsive movement) at the Southbank center in London and spoke with my contemporaries about the “Ethos of riding fixed” and later that year I spoke at the London Design Museum for “Bike V Design". The last publishing project I worked on was with Chrome Industries, the Wrenched London City guide book was designed, photographed, curated and written by me in 2013. . I have been forming the idea of the “Everything Fixed” book for the last 10 years, I began writing and planning things out around 5 years ago. In 2013 I emigrated with my wife to the USA and this project (and Fixed Magazine) was put on hold. Recently I have had a few insights and reactions into the way that fixed gear culture has been developing. I feel like it is time to make this book happen and now I am raising money to publish my book

  • Death before derailleur

  • tl;dr I I I I I I me me me

  • When cycling at high speed, head movement is both rare and quick

  • your basically not a real cyclist unless you ride 48/17

  • I don't like it myself but I have to stretch before I can go down

    @debo

  • Fixie Missionary

  • @dancing james where is the like button on this forum :D

  • This frame has super tight geometry and is incredibly intuitive to ride. Just look where you want to go and you're turning.

    also @umop3pisdn

    [on not bothering to race] who said I haven't tried?! I have my qualifications to race on the track and I've participated in many alley-cats all over the world. The crit to me is a velodrome with an extra couple of corners and a hairpin... Put gears on the bikes at the Hed Hook Criterium and the race becomes just like any other Criterium race for roadies. What you don't understand is that I don't feel the need to compete or prove myself to anyone. I compete against myself.

  • I had to get a roadie, the commutes too far

  • I don't wear headphones whilst on the road anymore, mainly because the pounding music pushed me to pedal too aggressively for traffic

  • @umop3pisdn again with the bars -

    Nothing compares to clicking down a few gears with a Campag thumb shifter and hearing it resonate through a nice deep set of Heds.

    Clipping in with a disc sounds decent too.

  • trackbike, tent, Trangia.

  • I'd ride it sarcastically.

  • fixed is the fastest in a city. 48/17, I can get to 40mph downhill. No one can do that on a road bike.

  • Source? hahaha what utter crap

  • Just a guy I know.
    I don't think he knows the difference between Ks and Ms.
    But he is also a god on two wheels and THE de facto cycliste premiere!

  • he is also a god on two wheels and THE de facto cycliste premiere

  • Couldn't you make your own male and female parts?

  • Ye.
    I deserve that.

  • Regarding tyres, the only tasteful options are black, gumwall or green striped Vittoria Pavé

  • .

  • Spooky!

    That is (nearly word-for-word) what I was going to write, in reply to someone who was considering black & white tubs.
