  • Asafoetida is pretty much in every Dal recipe in that book. And I'm now noticing it all my new Indian cookbooks. I thought it was a random hard to find product so I ordered it online and then promptly saw it for sale at Tesco :)

  • Asafoetida's a lovely ingredient, just make sure you store it in the fridge (powder) or in the freezer (block etc.).

  • I really don't like the Swedish glace stuff, always tastes really artificial to me. The alpro hazelnut & choc is 👌 booja booja is killer, if you wanna splash out.

  • Swedish Glace mini magnums are the shizzle tho..
The b&j vegan options were disappointing sadly.

  • Love the booja booja ice cream. Spendy though.

Anyone had any good cheeses recently?

  • Apparently morrisons do vegan cornettos?! (Am I late to this party?) 🍦🍦🍦

  • News to me!

  • Tesco do them as well. Pretty good.

  • Subbed ghee with olive oil which is even nicer

I'm with you. I think it suits a simple red lentil daal perfectly.

  • Morrisons cornettos are pretty good.

  • As @Thrasher said

  • Vegan Nights tomorrow, likely to be big queues from 5pm?

  • 3 block queue at 7pm, went up to Temple of Saitan instead. Delicious diversion.

Oh well. That's the end of running with this lot then. I can't stand this kind of shit. Don't they have any idea how jarring it would be for wild animals to see a load of humans running by together?

It strikes me as the same dumb mentality as the "Zoo Lates" at London Zoo. The animals aren't sentient beings, they're just entertainment for you. Who gives a fuck about their peace and mental well being? There's drinking to be done! At the zoo! Hurrah!

    Fucking morons.

  • ^^ Ha, couldn't go because of Wests birthday. When will they finally realise that all nights should be vegan?

  • Who were you running with there?

  • There was a great burrito place near Alexanderplatz... in fact I went there twice the food was so good, place was called Delores or something?

Just remembered this yesterday.. wasn't hungry as I had just eaten like half an hour before, but went inside none the less to have a look at the place.
It was very crowded, but with a nice atmosphere, both staff and guests, and the food / the whole place smelled AMAZING
Will definitely go have lunch there next time (pro-tip for all analog photographer vegans in Berlin) I'll visit Foto Impex, which is just around the corner..

  • I love cooking, i would like to still love cooking

I do realise this is a four month old post, alas I have been away from this forum for quite a while and though I'd respond anyway as hardly anybody replied to you as far as I can see.

Well I guess you're quite conditioned / programmed to eat meat, as you said yourself.
It's like a strong habit basically, and I don't know how old you are but likely you've been living (eating) like this for quite some years, so the habit will be very hard to break.

    It's all in your mind.

There's a voice mentioning that "something is missing" when there's no meat on the plate and you'll basically have to explain over and over that it's fine the way it is.
The voice will not listen to reason though - so arguing with it is somewhat pointless; in the end you'll instead create a new voice, one that's saying "ah, fuck, this (vegan food you just ate) is so damn tasty I want more of it", or "hmm, I feel so much better / healthier (after a few weeks just leaving out animal products), this is awesome".
I think this is how it works.

    Cookbooks.
To be honest I don't have any, but there's myriads of awesome recipes online.
Here's some blogs from the top of my head that might be an inspiration:

    http://minimalistbaker.com
    https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/category/special-diets/vegan/
    http://www.theppk.com/recipes/

I promise you you will learn a lot about cooking when doing vegan dishes for a while, and you'll probably like it very much, as you're not handling dead animals anymore, but yummy fresh produce, herbs etc..

    Enjoy!

  • Welcome back! great post.

  • Wow, that took me back... can remember one of the staff members told me the beer I picked up wasn't as nice as the other one in the fridge... all round nice guys... just wish I could get back to Berlin soon to go there again.

  • Cheers @Thrasher good to be back..

@Johnnyw ..I'd advise to wait until spring / summer 2018.
I might have mentioned this before but Berlin in November/December/January/February/March
    SUCKS.

  • Interesting graph...

  • Stop eating animals world plezz

  • Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I have pretty much broken the back of the need for a focus on meat in my cooking. There is definitely a switch in mindset that occurs. Really enjoying cooking actually and have branched out further into asian cooking.

Looking forward to hosting a vegan ramen and dumpling party tomorrow to lots of non vegans. I`m pretty confident they wont care they arent eating any meat!
