This is my once yearly 'it was me'.

I need a bracket exactly like that to fit my rear guard this weekend. I see SJS sell flimsy ones for a few quid but I’m not paying that, plus postage. What’s yours made from. It almost looks cast.
I have a sheet of brass that I’ll probably just make a 90 degree bracket from.

How'd that work out? Sturdier than the original?

It's a thick piece of aluminium sheet I bent in a vice with a hammer then used a file and sandpaper to sort out the shape. The Ali is really easy to work.
The face that meets the guard is curved so no fretting or rattles. Leather washer at brake bridge. -

Had so much fun fitting these way too small guards on the fat tyres and adjusting for an hour so it didn't rub either side...

This guard I should say, I couldn't bear more fun doing the front.

good work, that bike is just nice tyres away from greatness

Tighter than a gnat's arse

I do agree. And nicer wheels. The front is ok, the rear accounts for 50% of the bike's weight.

Thats tight! I will freecycle my SKS 45mm guards once I get the Swarf, yours if you want.

I don't deserve you <3

Another one I did.

Nice. I'm now imagining what you could do with a thick piece of aluminium rod, shaped with a file and drilled/tapped to mount to the frame. Interesting...

The purple Frame has a drilled and tapped rod fitted into brake bridge, guard is bolted directly to that, and bolted to chainstay bridge too, leather washers. I fitted that mudguard 5 years ago and it hasn't moved or rattled. I got the guards used as a trade with Edscoble and the flashy Herse/Singer reinforcing was to cover a hole he'd drilled for a similar mounting on a smaller frame.
I like bike bothering.

Amen.

Any recommendations for a rear light that can be neatly mounted on a mudguard (SKS Chromoplastic to be precise)? Something relatively small I guess. Is PDW Fenderbot the best option?

I'd say sturdier, yeah, still good after a number of years.
-
• #3297
I had a PDW a few years ago and the light it gave out was pretty weedy. ok with a second rear light but I wouldn't recommend using one on it's own.

B&M Secula. Both dynamo and battery versions available. Bright as hell and is more than just a single spot so it's easier to gauge distance/closing velocity.

what chainrings are those?
