Not sure what proof he expects to get from a mile up that a weather balloon and a go pro can't give you

That's true, but slowing down big heavy things travelling quickly with parachutes is always a tricky job. One you may well not get right first time...

Well obviously the go pro wouldn't give you proof at all because the sky people who keep us trapped down here would intercept the go pro and put fake footage on it to make it look like the earth is round. This way he gets to see it with his own eyes

Also, airliners cruise about 7 times higher. Although I suppose he wouldn't trust that the windows weren't part of the simulation.

Quite how will be interesting though. I'll put my money on parachute failure. It took a long time and a lot of mistakes before deploying parachutes on re-entry vehicles became reliable.
