  • Moon Vortex Pro is excellent. Comes with bar and helmet mount, as well as a button you can mount to your bar to make changing the brightness easier. 9/10 - loses a point because it looks a bit like something that has fallen off a stealth bomber.

  • Ordered a Volt 1200 today from PBK. Google search came up at £83.95, cheapest I could find, clicked the link, website price £78.95, then window popped up with a 10% discount code, so ended paying just over £71, bargain!

  • Has anyone got any experience with these? https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/lighting-spares/cateye-fork-mount-bracket/

Seems like a good/cheap way of clearing up some space around the handlebars

  • That's what I use. Does exactly what you'd want it to without any fuss.

  • $22 for the Gaciron torch thingie looks like a pretty reasonable way to get myself 800 lumens worth? Unless I am missing something?

In terms of size, it's bigger than I would have liked it to be, but both the low price and cylindrical shape works with my idea of always carrying a fully charged spare light in my bag.

  • I've got a rear light that has a garmin mount (Electron) and wondering whether anyone has found a more elegant seatpost mount than the clamp style like this:

  • Was it good? Need more light for very (very!) dark lanes commuting. Currently running an old Lezyne superdrive plus a basic cateye (on flash to warn motorists).

  • It's fookin amazing, especially at the discounted price. Really is bright, slightly angled down, beam goes about 30-40ft before fading.

  • Neat, will get one to try, cheers @jontea

  • That actually looks like a good option for me. I have an older Garmin mount on my road bike that doesn't fit my 1000 and use a Maxx-D on the normal bar clamp.
This would let me use my 1000 as well as my smaller Joystick light.

Anyone used them before? How well do they hold a Joystick?

  • Skip that, I've just found a spare SRAM mount that will fit the 1000 instead of the Barfly.

  • Moon lights have a 10% discount going at Hargroves cycles at the moment:
    http://www.hargrovescycles.co.uk/accessories/lights.html?manufacturer=2070

    MOON10 is the discount code.

  • Any ideas what this is?
Fitted on a 2017 Alex Singer porteur on their website.

  • For all bracket related issues, consider Sugru. Back in the day I managed to fuse a cheap Moon seat rail clamp to a Cateye bracket, setup worked perfectly.

  • Wiggle have a few decent discounts on Moon lights too.

Just bought the Moon Meteor Storm Lite which looks pretty decent for £50 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/moon-meteor-storm-lite-front-light/ which was a fair bit cheaper than on Hargroves

Some light brands (Lezyne is another one) seem to have prices all over the shop when you search for them

  • Hope R2i looks interesting, although it's not light at 250g nor cheap at £150
My experiences of their warranty service has been excellent. Faults have been with my Vision 2 and District+ having cable faults over time. R2i has no cables so I'd expect decent reliability

  • Easy little bodge today to cure the shadow cast by the basket on LadyLiz’s commuter. The cheap smart light was in a box of forgotten bits.
Remove handlebar strap+qr lever, insert washers and long bolt. Done.
I have no idea if it’ll flap down but it’s a pretty snug fit against the basket stay so should be fine, as the fixing is at the rear of the bracket and the weight of the light at the front it might do but can add zip ties.
It’s not quite as elegant as a single origin artisanal front dynamo light/rando carrier but it’ll do the job.

  • How easy is Sugru to remove once applied?
I could just glue the o-ring mount supplied to the seatpost.

  • I have a few if those type of lights kicking around and you've inspired me to do the same!

  • It's time consuming, but you can get your seatpost back to the orignal state without unsightly marks.
BTW, as far as I can see, your problem with attaching the o-ring directly to the seatpost is the difficulty of controlling the direction of the light. Better to attach the O-ring to a clamp thingie.

  • Picked up a Volt 800 specifically for an unlit, hilly stretch on my commute home. Works a charm.

  • Just got these:

I can't see how you'd need brighter lights in cities. They're eyeball-searing, rear is 30 lumen front is 80.

  • What's the current go-to front light for 4+ hours of unlit roads? I have a Lezyne Macro Drive (or something) which goes up to 600 lumens and it doesn't really cut it.

  • If I'm not using a dyno I own and recommend whatever Exposure suits your runtime needs.
    Spendy but solid.
