As it happens I think my most local bike shop at the moment is "Brompton Junction" in Amsterdam. It is doing sterling service out here. I did the brake replacement a week ago though.. I really like the new ones, which attempt to stop you, as opposed to the old ones which just gave you something to do while you wondered where you would end up

Mine has been tricky to get the seat down for a while, and today is pretty much impossible. If I look I can see that there is a plastic shim in the tube, which is moving around, whereas in the past I don't think it has.
Anything I can do DIY to mend it? Or does it have to go to LBS?
