  • If it comes up after approx ten miles I would be looking at maybe a sticking caliper causing the brake to start juddering. If you have an infra red thermometer check the disc temperature after a drive, had one at work last month, three at 50 degrees C the last one at 110 degrees C

Failing that a/ tyres going out of shape, b/ worn track control arm bushes, they tend to be OK under acceleration but a wobble starts at light load cruising and or overrun.

  • Don't sticking calipers usually pull?

Why not use the old skool lo tec method...touch the wheel bolts after a drive.

  • Yes if really bad but they can bind enough to create a warped disc vibration and not be noticeable pull to your average cocooned driver

  • Literally the whole rear braking assembly on my car is brand new, OEM Volvo fitted by a Volvo dealer. And the handbrake won't hold the car on a hill, because of course it fucking won't.

  • Builds trust doesn't it

  • Should’ve taken their £500.

  • Today’s get-excited-now-regret-it-later acquisition:

  • Yep, still a 1098. The whole thing is totally standard. The only non-standard thing about it is the uprated gearbox seal on the input shafts.

  • That looks familiar. Hugh the poo given up on it then?

  • How about the kingpins?

  • Please tell me how Hugh got this name. Thanks.

  • I think you'd have to ask @Hefty. I picked it up off him, I think. I assume it's childrearing related.

  • Tuch.

  • Nice, what TF is it Ginetta or summat? and how much work does it need?

  • It's a Fury. Originally the Sylva Fury, then the Fisher Fury, now just the Fury. That one is currently fitted with a bike engine, a CBR1000 I think. They're most excellent. I have two.

  • Mrs Hugh the Poo have him a deadline and I thought it would be nice to keep it local. I need to sell the 914 tho. 4 cars do fit in the garage, but not alongside all the other rubbish I have in my life.

@Ordinata I don’t really know why he’s called Hugh the Poo. He just is.

    @Olly398 List so far is:

    All the wiring.
    Change the 3.89 diff for a 3.54 so it’ll go over 110mph.
    An interior.
    A screen.
    Some suspension.
    Some tyres.
    An exhaust.

So not actually all that much...

  • So you have a shell, an engine and a bare chassis... So not actually all that much?

(I say this whilst being envious of people's cool projects)

  • Some tyres.

What's up with the rear wheels? They look a bit lost in that photo. Wrong offset?

P.S. I have fuckloads of Fury suspension arms, uprights and other suspension related bits and bobs if you need some. And seats, and radiators, and steering columns. And wheels. No 3.54 diffs though, but I do have some spare RS2000 driveshafts. And some uprated Group 1 driveshafts. Let me know if any of these would be useful...

  • And gearbox and cooling system and instruments and braking system and fuel system and gearchange and oiling system and lighting and all sorts of other bits.

    I’d say it’s 85% done.

  • Those are the build wheels. I have some RS 4 spokes that should fit better. Probably with spacers.

I don’t think I’ll be needing uprated driveshafts with 450kg and the torque from a 1 litre. :)

The seats could come in handy though. I’ll be in touch.

  • Service bill in.

    New cam belt
    New auxiliary belt
    New diesel filter
    New water pump
    Oil & filter change

    £715 incl material

Pretty happy with that. New summer tires in spring and the car should be ticking over on basic services for a good couple of years.

  • Wonder why he flogged the Zonda, thought he loved that car! And that MINT Lancia Integrale!

  • I see that question asked a lot in the comments re the Zonda. I'd happily look after the Lotus Elan if it was a case of space...

  • Not everyday you see one of these. Excuse crap Pic, driving etc...
