  • I just finished it.

The last two episodes are great.

  • punisher. three episodes in and i'm liking it. i suspect this will not last.
    13 eps. why???

  • The punisher, 3 episodes in and I'm liking it.

  • Yes, nowhere near Catastrophe and pretty sure works best only with audience of 2-8yo child owners. Also lead character being so downtrodden and ridiculed makes it a frustrating watch.

  • Actually I suspect having a 3 year old (and generally doing half or more of the week-time parenting) was the root of my dislike of it. I felt like it was either being patronising to Parents or just plain getting it wrong. I felt like it needed to be a lot closer to reality in order to be funny: Most of the way the characters reacted to situations just felt too ridiculous so I couldn’t relate at all.

  • Do I need to watch Iron Fist or The Defenders before The Punisher? Reviews of those two haven't been great.

  • Do I need to watch Iron Fist

Only if you hate your life.

FWIW, haven't seen The Punisher, but reviews of that don't look good either.

  • punisher is well above average. it's got a strong PTSD awareness thread running through it which sets it apart from the other dross. it also doesn't hold back when it comes to raising an eyebrow at US involvement in the middle east. the NRA guy is an obvious piss take designed to get right up the NRA's nose.

that said, there's also a lot of gun-based gunishment going on.

  • Punisher is still good after a few more episodes. Of the other programs in the same series it's as good as daredevil and Jessica Jones and Luke Cage but with more head exploding gore, it's loads better than iron fist, which was tedious as hell and ruined the good bits of the defenders.

  • Interesting to hear positive punisher talk. Iron fist and defenders made my toes curl and is written off punisher from the trailer. May give it a go now.

  • It's good, plenty of claret spraying punishment going on, not too much whining and enough crossover with the other programmes to seem in the same universe but not get bogged down with their shit (basically just the nice reporter woman and a few mentions of the others, no iron fish).

  • the way that Micro is introduced is handled pretty well. previous incarnations (and the few comic books i've read) portray him as generic lard arse neckbeard who's good with computers. the neckbeard's still there, mind you.

    #nospoilers

  • Mindhunter - watched first episode - would not re-bang...dull as fuck....

  • I'm 2/3 in and not getting the feels either.

  • Episode two with the introduction of Edmund Kemper is incredible

  • Really? Coz EP 1 was mega dullz

  • I thought it was pretty crap with pretty crap dialogue. Still watched it all though

  • Episode one of Mindhunter isn't the most exciting, though it still kept my attention and piqued my interest. If you are not enjoying it by the end of episode two, it might not be for you.

  • They are fucking worlds apart. Motherland is a really big bag of nope.

  • I just finished watching The Sinner. I thought it was good, Jessica Biel is excellent. It felt very "Netflix Originals", they certainly have their preferred style of cinematography.

  • I'm 7/8ths through The Sinner. It's gripping, agree that JB is excellent, and Bill Pullman isn't half bad either.

  • finished le punisher.

easily my best of the marvel / netflix tv shows. it's been criticised for being overly long - there's not a duff episode amongst all 13 of them and each one tags the story along nicely. watching jigsaw get jigsawed so he can be jigsaw was a bit tough to watch, but that's what you sign up for i spose. hope they make a season 2

  • Haven’t finished yet but so far it’s just wearyingly constant OTT violence and aggression with a nice helping of NRA/alt-right views. I know that’s kindof the point of the punisher but I was hoping for a bit more nuance and menace.

  • what alt-right issues are being proffered? if anything it points a finger squarely at the NRA as well as suggesting that state sponsored support for returned soldiers is woefully lacking / misunderstood.

i've met people like that. i think it's a pretty accurate portrayal of the problems faced by young men returning from conflict and suffering PTSD.

    hey ho. top show.

  • Fair enough, I thought the fake vet guy was pretty funny too and an obvious troll move but I’m at the point with the gun control senator being weak and cowardly (and still hiring men with guns etc). Maybe I wasn’t watching properly.
