Yep, the second went down well with my 10:30 coffee. Looking forward to the third as desert for my lunch and fourth as an energy boost for the train commute home.
The issue is the boxed jobbies come in 6 packs. Then I could have one as pudding after dinner and still had one for a 10pm sneaky while the misses is having a bath. Still think I missed a trick there.

I'm thinking of experimenting with one of these devices to inject custard into the cavity twixt filling and upper crust, leaving no outward trace of intrusion.

Reasonable.
I thought I crossed the line with the Aldi orange & chocolate abominations.Off to improve some vegetarian mincemeat with sloe gin.

Yes! Removing the lid, filling with more deliciousness, and then re-covering - of course! How have I never thought of this before...

If it can be done with doughnuts.....

Absolutely - please document your attempts!

Most shop-bought ones (with a suitable gap) you can pop the lid off and get a spoonful of something good in (brandy cream, mascarpone, etc.) before replacing. Might not meet Melly's stealth requirements, mind - the modification is usually reasonably obvious (at least for the brief period before all evidence is disposed of).

lost my Greggs virginity yesterday, why has it taken me so long. two eaten on the drive home, 2 more for pudding. annoyingly my wife (who claims not to like mince pies) had the last two

in my family the mince pie is simply a vector for brandy butter
but Greggs' last night was fine without brandy butter - that will be made as of the beginning of December

Thread's gone crazy today. And they said the UK mincer scene was dead!
Hold tight the deep fill faithful.

+1 Lid off > 20 second microwave > spoonful of brandy butter *> lid on > eat.
- Brandy butter to be made to last point of holding together as a solid.

"Meat injector"
I may have seen that. The sequel wasn't nearly as good.

That just keeps on giving. After about ten seconds you're like, "I get the joke', but he keeps adding and adding to it. Even the final shot made me laugh.

I asked this in Food and AQA last year but didn't get satisfactory answers. In fact most forum members showed an embarrassing, pitiable lack of knowledge on the subject. I'm hoping that readers in a thread called Mince Pie Appreciation will have at least some experience of other festive snacks.
The question:
Where can I buy the best Lebkuchen and, to show you're taking life seriously, what qualities are important in Lebkuchen, the unrivalled master of the festive sweet snack field?

Have a word with yourself.
Amazing. They look deep as fuck, although slightly pooey around the filling.
You have one and let us know what they're like.
