  • Good to hear. I once left my bike unlocked outside college for an entire very long day. I don't know why, I was probably distracted when I 'locked' it up. The lock was even in its holder on the frame. Admittedly, it wasn't the most attractive bike, but still. I got out quite late in the evening and was absolutely mortified to realise, but it was still there.

  • Has anyone encountered the cyclist somewhere between brixton and fulham, who rides an e-bike and rides along shouting like a nutter. I typically encounter him turning from brixton hill into acre lane then going across the top of clapham common.

He always dismounts at red lights and run through while shouting incomprehensible abuse and also a joyous 'woooo'. I've also seen him go completely ballistic at other road users for the smallest infractions. This morning i passed him going the opposite way after he RLJ and he looked at me a shouted 'neurosis'.

Is he on an e-bike now? I used to see him on my commute along the South Circular going through Clapham. He is special.

  • Reminds me of a guy I saw riding down Shoreditch High Street over the weekend, on the wrong side of the road, shouting "woop woop!" as he red light jumped through a pedestrian crossing. He was wearing a high vis jacket with a radiation symbol on the back. It's funny how people like that manage to stay alive.

  • lucky indeed!

I once 'locked' my bike up by leyton asda and jollied off to do a 45min shop / track down some double stuffed oreos. only realised I'd had a proper mare when I went to load the groceries into my rucksack which still, sphincter twitchingly, contained my 2 D-locks.

slung my money at the cashier yelling 'keep the change!' and only half sprinted outside assuming the worst, only to find it still leaning again the sheffield stand. that's how not to lock your bike.

  • Gosh. First commute in 5 months. Mum bike 3.0 with hyper voyagers is nice.
    Big SRAM cassette is nice.
Forgetting locker key, having pass not work, taking forever to remember actual work. NOT SO NICE.

  • He isnt always on an e-bike, but he uses one sometimes. He goes a few miles on my route so I also make a special effort to catch up to him and watch the madness unfold. When he is on the e-bike it is a bit difficult/too dangerous to keep up.

More interesting than the usual fare of close passing and wobbly beginners RLJing.

  • Impressive.

Not quite as bad as that but I once locked my bike outside the Apple Tree in Clerkenwell and when I came back to it a few hours later I couldn't find the key.... Brief moment of panic, then spotted I'd left it sticking out of the lock. Did feel silly and lucky.

  • I’ve done that with my front door on more than one occasion. Although it doesn’t make much difference as a swift kick will open it, as I found out after locking my whole family out on Christmas Day.

  • I once went away for the weekend and left the front door of my house open. Not just unlocked, but wide open. Came back on Sunday evening to find a pile of post, including some rather pricey parcels, propped up against the open front door. Apart from the house being bloody cold, all was well however.

  • It probably looked too much like an obvious trap to tempt any thieves. :)

  • I had a friend during school whose dad (bit of a character) use to leave the keys on the drivers seat as a matter of course.

  • The wife (and possibly myself) regularly leave the car unlocked because toddler.

  • Do you want to get rid of the car AND the child or just the child? I know a guy...

  • Cannibalism is a step too far even for you mate

  • babies are pretty much easier to eat midgets. i'd have thought that was well in @hippy 's wheelhouse.

  • Possibly, low mileage but previous owner didn't take particularly good care of her. Otherwise, in good nick.

    Will keep the car.

  • Lock- and latch-based story thread >>>>>

  • Broken spoke & jammed wheel. 10 yards from the front door.

    backinmyjimjams/10

  • Who took Q1 yesterday evening? There were thumb tacks .. loads of punctures and people walking with their bikes, got one in my rear tyre as well, thank fuck I have tubeless.

How can I report this? I have tweeted but no response from TFL or Southwark.

  • Cunts

  • Are you running 16 spoke wheels or something?

  • Sounds like Melbourne.

  • Yep, definitely sounds like Melbourne.
