Reminds me of the whale in the Thames many years ago.

Private Eye number crunching put it in to perspective:-

£50,000 : amount raised by the public in order to help try and look after the whale
£50,000 : amount the BBC spent on helicopters for aerial footage of the whale

I wonder if they would have raised the same amount had there been no footage of the whale.

My plan was to sell the whale meat to Japanese tourists once the inevitable happened and it died.

I reckon I’d have made at least £50k.
